I had a bacon cheeseburger from Harvey's for dinner, because the Carribean take-out was closed. It's already starting to sit a little heavy on my chest. I might take Pepto-Bismol before bed.
So Erica has proven herself to be a total bitch once again. I sent her a reminder that she should play FishVille on Facebook, because I hadn't sent her one in a little while. She messaged me back and said: "I do not, and will not, play FishVille."
When I told Mom she said, "Oh, delete her from your Facebook friends." But I don't know if I want to do that. Maybe I keep convincing myself that she'll be a little nicer someday. Eh, I dunno. Even when we were younger, everything seemed to have to be about her. Like, for instance, her mother never wanted to bring her over to our house, we always had to come to them.
The Calorimetry might be too big, but I can shrink it down, I think. Either that, or I rip it and start over with the modifications. I dunno...
On a happier note... I had a nice afternoon of reading Full Moon O Sagashite and listening to the Bruce Springsteen album I have out of the library, Nebraska. It sounds a lot like The Ghost of Tom Joad - a lot of acoustic guitar and harmonica, and very little for drums and percussion. But the song lyrics themselves are different than those of the songs from The Ghost of Tom Joad.
Also, Dad is finished his overtime at work. He has tomorrow off for Mom's appointment at the doctor's, so that should be good for him. I feel sorry for him, because he'd come home from working overtime and be tired as hell and couldn't eat any dinner Mom made because he had already eaten at work... at least tomorrow he doesn't have to get up early for work, because he has the day off.
I was going to make some Oscars predictions yesterday, but I forgot :p

Welcome to paradise.
Well, not really. The title is completely drenched in sarcasm.
Something's up, and people aren't telling me what or who or how or why. It's pissing me off. And eventually I'm gonna get to the bottom of it. I think it has something to do with Angela - my estranged grandmother on my father's side. I've talked about her before. She's the one who sent my siblings and I birthday cards and stickers (yes. stickers.) once every few years, and when we got older it would be a card and money (usually, like, $15). Something about Grandpa wondering why Dad won't talk to Angela. I don't know. But it's pissing me off.
Also, my birthday is days away. I'm not happy. I don't really want to do anything on my birthday except go out for dinner. That's it. I want to stay in my room all morning with some books, magazines (knitting magazines, of course), CDs and knitting close by. And I know Grandpa's going to be a dick in some way, shape or form. I just know it. He has a talent for being an asshole.
I can't wait for the fall HPKCHC classes to start so I have something to keep me busy - not that my preexisting knitting projects aren't keeping me busy, it's just that I think that if I have a deadline to meet, it'll take my mind off the bullshit that is my extended family (and immediate family, at times). I also can't wait for youth group on Wednesday, where I'll be around sane people. And then there's knit night tomorrow. Hopefully I can go. I couldn't go last week because Mom wasn't feeling well.
I think I'm going to start reading The Folk Keeper again. I started it and lost track of what was going on, so I have to re-read it. It's a good book. I highly recommend it.
I also want to read Coraline. I watched the movie yesterday. Mom was being a total bitch about it - she wanted to watch it in 3-D, so I thought, okay, let's give it a shot, even if I have to wear my 3-D glasses while knitting, even if we have to have all the lights off. Well, then she starts fiddling with the TV settings to get it just right. I can't watch a movie if someone's fiddling with settings! She's as bad as Dad sometimes! So I said we should just watch it in 2-D, and she got all huffy and 'maybe I'll make you watch it on the little TV!' and all that shit. Honestly. I just want to watch my frikkin' movie. When did MY library materials become HER library materials?! It's like when I had The Wrestler out of the library. I had to watch it when SHE wanted to watch it because 'Dad's going back to work tomorrow and won't be able to see it'. Um... he's got a library card. So does Mom. It's not rocket science to reserve a DVD.
I miss kickboxing, dammit.

In a real finishing mood
Yup. I'm in a finishing mood, probably because I need to free up some needles. I finished my Heart Illusion Dishcloth this afternoon while listening to Journey's Greatest Hits, which I picked up for the library today. It looks pretty neat, although it might be too loose to be a dishcloth, so it might be a nice washcloth. Either way,it kicks butt. I'll have to take a photo of the finished cloth. I have in-progress shots on Flickr - hang on...

I like the flecked white cotton with the peach cotton. The white is Bernat Handicrafter Cotton, and I think the peach is an older skein of Handicrafter, because it's softer and more splitty.
Here's the mug cozy for Divination:

And here's the bobble pillow I started:

So, there you have it. The three projects for June :)
I may only do one class this month, maybe two. Three seems to be a bit much. If I can complete two assignments by the July deadline, I'll be so happy.
Canada Day, which was yesterday, was very boring. We didn't go anywhere to celebrate, which pissed me off. Instead we hung around the house, watching Pineapple Express and assorted TV shows. I didn't even get to see any fireworks, because they were all too far away for me to see out the back door. But, I mean, we could've at least gone to watch fireworks at the park, but no - mom wanted to laze around the house. It was probably the worst Canada Day I've had in a while, if not ever.
So yeah. Didn't do anything significant for Canada Day. Grrr. At least Mom made brownies and ice cream. Chestnut ice cream, which is pretty spiffy.
So tomorrow I might try to finish my mug cosy if my neck and shoulders aren't killing me. Or maybe I'll cast on a scarf for Muggle Studies. Or maybe I'll work on my house tie.
Anyways.
Dad still hasn't put that old network card from the HP into my computer, so I'm still using Dad's - which is fine, except that he refuses to download Firefox, so I'm stuck with the incompetence of Internet Explorer. Grah.
I should ask Dad to burn me a copy of that new Green Day album I got him... which reminds me, he put iTunes on his computer! Yay! Now I don't have to deal with Windows Media Player's incompetence!

Happy Father's Day, Otosan :)
...yep, 'otosan' is Japanese for 'father'. But only when you talk to him. When you talk about him, you use 'chichi'.
I got my dad the new Green Day CD, and we had prime rib burgers for dinner. Mom gave Grandpa some golf balls.
I'm done reading Fruits Basket #2, and I just love Hatori Sohma. I can't wait until #7, because I think that's the one with the page about the Year of the Dragon, which is Hatori's Chinese zodiac sign. I reserved #3, and hopefully it'll be in by Tuesday, which is the day that our DVDs are due. Which reminds me, I have to watch Slumdog Millionaire tomorrow...
Blech, it's gotten humid. That's always fun... NOT!
I should go check my library account...

Easter Weekend, Part One
Yes, I'm going to post about the weekend in chunks, a concept stolen from AJ. Hope you don't mind, AJ :) lol
I'll start with today, Good Friday.
(I didn't bold that to put emphasis on religion, by the way.)
Today started with me drinking my leftover ginger ale from last night for 'breakfast' while checking the library site to see if they'd be open tomorrow. Turns out they are. And when I told Mom, she said, "Yes, they are! Saturday isn't a holiday!" Jeez, Mom, I'm only trying to help. Way to encourage a girl...
Then it was cleaning. For me, that meant tossing the dogs' blankets in the washing machine with a good scoop of Borax to make them smell nice and pretty, taking any dirty towels, clothing and facecloths down to the laundry room, etc. Then it was sweeping time, which resulted in me having to take a break due to thirst (which was due to a crappy breakfast) and a sore back. My back is still a little sore, but not as bad as before.
I can't remember when Katie and Dan arrived - I think it was around noon. After some chit-chat, Katie and Dan left to go somewhere. I don't know where. There was crap on TV, so Mom and I watched The Incredibles on DVD - well, I watched it, since Mom kinda abandoned the movie. Dad watched the rest of it with me, though. Katie and Dan came back near the end. After pausing the credits to find out who did the voice for Syndrome, I took the DVD out and switched it back to TV, and we watched on BBC Canada until Top Gear came on. It was around that time that Katie and Mom left to visit Grandma in the hospital, so me, Dad and Dan watched Top Gear, which was pretty cool. I read a bit of Blood and Chocolate during Top Gear as well.
Mom freaked out at me near dinnertime because I had walked behind her while she was handling a pot of potatoes. And the she told me to get out of her way whilst I was making sure the bottle of cleaner was okay (it had fallen in the sink). Grr. I ate dinner - beef shank stew stuff (which had these friggin' rings of fat, so I had to get a Dr Pepper after dinner) and mashed potatoes. I watched Coronation Street and Jeopardy!. Dad badgered me to wash dishes, and I didn't. Hell yeah.
And then I had to fish a dog toy out from under the couch. Which was a pain. In my back. And then my mom told me that I was the source of a bad smell, so I came up here, in the Spare Oom. And then she called me down to apologise, because it was actually the dog bed that smelled. And I came back up here.
And Spectacle is coming on in roughly 14 minutes, so I'd better finish this post quickly. Sounds like we'll have to eat in our laps Easter Sunday, and Grandpa hinted about shunting us kids in the friggin' sun room to make room for their friends from friggin' ARIZONA!!!!!
....phew.
13 minutes to spare.
I guess I should post this post now. I'll report back soon, maybe tomorrow. And most likely Sunday evening, to dish out the dirt on the dinner.
12 minutes. Gotta go.
...wait, now it's 11 minutes! Bye-bye :)

I picked up the wretched clutch again
...and I figured out what was wrong with it - the stitches were twisted. So, after a bit of untwisting (and I think a bit of frogging as well), I fixed it. Hopefully the diamond pattern will show up. I probably should've practised the diamond pattern beforehand with some scrap yarn, but I didn't think of that at the time.
The Calorimetry is close to being finished - I have a few more Row 7 repeats to do, and then the Row 8 stuff, and the bind off. And sewing on the button, of course. I'm not sure what button I'll use - maybe I'll use the other purple button. Or the other star button. Speaking of buttons, I should get one of those bags o' buttons from Len's and start a button jar. My mom recently moved her button jar into a dish for easier access.
My dad bought cannoli from our favourite bakery today, because he and Mom were craving it, thanks to Phantom Gourmet. So I had three Sicilian cannoli. Yum :)
Oh, and Mom thinks that Dad was faking the headache to get out of going to church because he said that the loud TV volume wasn't bothering it. No comment.

Feeling loads better.
I'm not as stuffed up today, which is great. I should be well enough to go to youth group on Wednesday.
The past couple of days have been pretty nice. I think the weather's finally turning spring-like. Last night it was raining, which I thought was great. I went outside in the rain, wearing my hiking-style boots, to bring in a couple of dog toys that found their way outside. Smiles came with me to 'help' - in other words, I picked up the toys while she danced about in hopes that I would throw one. The ground was pretty soft, and I got mud and stuff on my boots, so I gave them a wash when I came back in.
Katie came over yesterday. She got me and Dad a T-shirt each in St. Martin - she was over there... last week? My shirt's quite pretty. We had turkey for dinner, 'cause Mom and Dad bought a turkey (or several??? I can't remember) on sale. I went back for the last of the Brussels sprouts.
We didn't go to church today because Dad had a really bad headache this morning. I'm not complaining, because it means that I can stay in my pajamas.
Oh, and I e-mailed Holly, since I haven't e-mailed her in ages.
I have to go eat soon...

Post-weekend wrap-up
Let's look at the list again, shall we?
1. Write another Awesome Quotes of the Week note on Facebook (including random quotes from Micaela, Emma and Vicky).
2. Listen to the second disc of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.
3. Listen to The Legends of Classic Rock Sunday night.
4. Work on my Calorimetry. (worked on it while watching Hair)
5. Check Q107's listener club draws to see if there's a draw for a video camera. That way I can sing in the bathroom like Rin on the Rox - who just got their Youtube accound suspended! :( (didn't do that 'til today)
6. Pester Dad to help me get rid of the shortcuts for Human 3D so that I can reinstall it. (well, I pestered him, but he's going to help me with it tomorrow)
7. Wash my two favourite pairs of jeans (Dad wants me to wash his new t-shirt, too, so that he can wear it tonight. I guess he wants to wear it to poker.)
8. Practise singing in the bathroom when no one's around. I get embarassed if people hear me singing in the house. Maybe it's because Katie and Nathan used to tease me whenever they'd hear me singing along to something. Anyways, maybe I'll sing 'Hotel California' or 'Dream On' - I've been in love with both songs lately. (I sorta-kinda did, but I didn't have music, so it was terrible, so I'm not crossing it off)
9. Perhaps I'll start Twiggy Tweed, a purse pattern from Knitty. It's part of a KAL on Ravelry. I was supposed to start it a while ago, actually.
I went to the dentist's today to have my flipper re-shaped. Turns out that they had to take another impression for a whole new flipper. Dammit.
On the upside, I watched Hair Saturday evening, which was an awesome movie. I think I'll watch Labyrinth tomorrow.

Grah.
I have a headache :(
Oh, and if I see one more TV show with Howie Mandel on it, I'll go insane. My dad's crazy about Deal or No Deal, for some strange reason. I don't understand the appeal - all it is is roulette with cases instead of a wheel.
Plus, I couldn't get to the library because I was told that I 'can go to the library tomorrow'. Thanks, Mom, now I'll have to pay fines on New Moon and 50 Women Artists You Should Know. Or whatever the book is called.
And I still have to wash some jeans.
On the upside, I started making a pouch for my new stitch holders :D It's only less than an inch long at the moment.
And I'm listening to Van Morrison - his music is nice to listen to, especially in my current condition. Not too heavy on the bass. I might just burst into song any minute now.
Well, I'm off to go take another Aspirin. I could have taken one at 7:00, but I forgot.

The Holiday Weekend in a Nutshell
I'm typing this using Dad's computer, because I can't get to mine. We put up an air mattress for Katie and Dan to sleep in, so Mom's elyptical workout machine thingy had to be moved to make room for the mattress. Said elyptical is behind my chair. A Rubbermaid tub is in my chair. I don't mind, I just find it funny that I'm not used to this monitor.
And now, the Holiday Weekend Thus Far. This section will probably be edited later to include dessert at Grandma and Grandpa's.
Saturday
As I mentioned before, Dad didn't bring up the table, so Mom and I had to haul it upstairs either during or after Letterman. Fun times. Mom also did some quick dusting. Dad did help clean before he went to work, but the floor still needed a sweep later that day.
Katie and Dan arrived first, because they had to pick up Nathan and Steph. When everyone except Dad was there (he was working that day, and came home around 6:00-ish), I put in disc 3 of SNL, season one. Nathan kept talking over it. He also asked me if I wanted their DS if he replaces it. I said that I was thinking there's more to it. He got all pissed off and changed his mind. When they went out later (to get bread so Steph could have a sandwich), I got upset. But I'm not upset anymore. Why should I be? I have a PSone. A piece of history.
We ate when Dad got home. I had to sit next to Steph, which I wasn't thrilled about. I told Katie that in private, and she told me to just sit through dinner. So I did. It wasn't so bad, until dessert. I was being goofy, smearing whipped cream on Mom's nose, and I accidentally got some on her glasses. She wasn't too mad about it, but that didn't stop Nathan calling me a jerk. So I went upstairs and ate my pie.
I'll add more later, I have to face the Grandparents. Yay us. Woo-hoo. I hope I get outta this alive.

The GED book has been found!
I guess it was in a box of books. But seriously... was it there the whole time???
In other news:
In other news:
- Mom and Dad are cleaning like crazy. I've tried to help, but I think it's best if I just stay far, far away right now
- I can't find my favourite SNL skits from the 70's on YouTube. Except for a really crappy video where someone is holding a video camera up to a TV. Gah. I just can't win.
- The dogs are driving me crazy.
- I'm not looking forward to my upcoming dental appointments.

The market, my parents, and Saturday Night Live
First, my parents and the market.
We went to the farmer's market this morning. Maybe I should've stayed home. There weren't too many wasps, but when I flinched, Dad yelled at me, saying that it provokes them. Uh, Dad, what the heck was I supposed to do! It buzzed right in my ear! It's human nature to recoil!
And then we're walking back to the car, and Dad makes a sudden left turn, and I'm standing with Mom in between the sidewalks, and a car is stopped in front of Mom. So what does mom say?
"Sam, pay attention! It's like walking with a ten-year-old!"
Well, it's not my fault that Dad decides to make sudden turns when there's cars coming out everybody's ears.
Then in the evening, Mom's mad because she told Dad that she wanted to order Chinese take-out, and he started drinking. He only had one beer, so he was okay to drive, but Mom wasn't too keen on it. Which I totally get. Then, when I wrote down what we wanted to order so that my dad could read it aloud over the phone, I asked him if he could read it, because I made some errors with the pen, and my writing is a bit small. So he read, "Pork fried vice...", because apparently, I can't write. So I flew into a rage, and he flew into a rage, and I went downstairs and put my headphones on until Mom called me upstairs to watch the Major League Soccer game (Toronto FC beat New York 3-1, by the way!!!!!).
And now, for the SNL portion of this post.
I started watching season one of Saturday Night Live this afternoon while my mom was making grape jam. I ate some of the grapes, and they were pretty sour, but good. I got to see John Belushi's impression of Joe Cocker, which was hilarious!

I need to vent
My parents appall me.
Seriously. Yeah, I've been known to go on and on about something, but yelling at me won't make me stop, it'll just infuriate me even more. Why don't they get that?! If they want respect from me, they need to treat me with respect, plain and simple.
My dad, for instance. We're at the library, and he told me off for 'going on and on' about something. He had told me to walk around to pay my fines because I forgot to remind the librarian that I had fines, and I don't know if she saw them on the monitor. So I'm about to walk around when my dad says, "Just hold on, and give them your card here!" And I called him a hypocrite. And I 'went on and on'. And he yelled at me.
It was raining when we went home, and when I got in the door, I took my shoes off, thinking Mom would yell at me if I walked on the wood flooring in wet running shoes. My dad, who came in after me, yelled at me for not stepping in (on the wood floor, in wet runners...), and he KICKED MY SHOES OUT OF THE WAY, OUT OF HIS WAY! AM I SOME KIND OF INCONVENIECE TO HIM OR SOMETHING?! THIS IS RIDICULOUS!
I swear, every time I go to the library with my father, he tells me that Mom and I need to stop reserving so much stuff. Hey, I can't control when it comes in!
I think I'll start walking to the library, even when I have a large amount of items to go back and/or pick up. Anything to avoid my old man. Yes, I'm willing to break my back to avoid going to the library with him. I need the fresh air anyhow.
My mom is nearly as bad. When I was crabby and recovering from that headache, my sister called after I'd calmed down, and she was tellig my sister that I get so frustrated over my algebra, and that the black belt test was so for me, and now... oh, and according to my mother, I should get my florist's certificate. Why would I need a florist's certificate?!
Whether you like it or not, MOM, I'm going to university. Got it?!
On top of that, I'm supposed to like Steph because she's my brother's pick. I never said I hated her. All I said was that she's rather irresponsible. She has allergies, and a cat. Now, I have no problem with folks getting married young, I just think that my brother is too immature to handle marriage. I don't even know where he's working anymore, and if he doesn't have a steady income, how is he gonna support Steph?
I can't wait 'til youth group starts up again.
I want to walk to the library tomorrow.
Since apparently I'm being very disagreeable, I'm gonna rebel. I think I should be a little self-indulgent. For too long, I've smiled, nodded my head, obeyed people, and didn't give myself credit.
I'm not such a bad person. I have skills. I can knit. I can read. I can do math, even though it drives me nuts. I can defend myself from an attacker. I can protest peacefully. I can play music - not as well as some kids, but I know how to read music, which is a plus. I can work, but nothing seems to grab me, which is why I don't have a job. I am not completely worthless. I have potential.
I'm not going to let anyone squash my dreams. I will work in radio. I will continue playing music, and hopefully, I'll become a session musician or a singer. I love to sing. And I think, if given the chance, I would love to act. Because I was in karate for so long, I never took acting classes. Maybe I'll start.
Maybe I'll write for a living, too. Heck, Stephen King writes and is in a band. If he can do it, I can, too. And my parents aren't going to stop me.
Now, my dears, here's some music. I believe my Ravelry friend, Dianna, would call these songs 'pretty noises', right, Dianna? :)

That darn cat
Mouse the cat has been quite a little madam lately. This morning, she kept picking on the dogs - even Goldie, who gets in between the cat and another dog to make sure that the cat is okay! Goldie's quite protective of the cat.
Mouse also tried to get a second treat this morning. Every morning, Mom gives the cat a treat and the dogs each get a treat, too. But this morning, I got up to let the dogs out, so I gave them treats instead of Mom. Mom came down later, and Mouse was meowing at her, asking for another treat, the little brat.
So, I'm not sure when youth group starts up again. I asked an advisor if there had been meetings, and he said no, but we'd be starting up soon. I haven't heard anything else since, but I'm sure he'll tell me when everyone meets up again.
I'm gonna have to keep Twilight out longer. I can't renew it, but I'm willing to pay the fines - I still have birthday money from the grandmother I've never met in case my fines get to be expensive. I remember one time, when I was a kid, we had two bags of library books to go back, and Dad was supposed to take both back, but only took one. So I had about $7 in fines. Ouch. I have only $1 in fines (two DVDs were two days late going back), and because Twilight is a teen fiction book in the library system, it should only cost me 10 cents a day, which is the fine for children's fiction. Either that, or it'll be the same as adult fiction, which is 25 cents a day. I hope it's 10 cents, that way I won't have to dip into my birthday money if I have the book out a while. I still have about $3 in change, though, so I should be good for paying fines.
So Mom and Dad are out shopping at Wal-Mart. I wanted to come with them, 'cause they have Bernat Baby Sport on sale, but Mom wanted me to stay home in case they did Christmas shopping. Okay, I'm cool with that. As long as I get to the library by tomorrow afternoon, otherwise the DVD on Ahmet Ertegun that's on the shelf for me will go back. Not fun.

Silly kitty...
I was in a rather deep sleep early this morning... until the cat woke me up.
Mouse was chasing... a mouse. And making a lot of noise, might I add. I'd hear her swatting at my laundry hamper (it's made of soft plastic canvas with a metal frame... I love IKEA :D), or swatting my huge armchair (which I can't sit in 'cause it has a pile of fabric sitting on it, plus it's covered in cat hair :p).
I think it was about four-ish in the morning when Mouse woke me up. I haven't set my clock, since I keep forgetting to wind it up. But I had turned on the radio, and I think the DJ said it was nearly time for the pre-morning show, which starts at 5 AM. I tried to read a bit of Twilight, but I couldn't concentrate on it. Maybe it was because of poor lighting - I was reading by my flashlight, which was pointed at a wall to give me the right amout of light, but I didn't have the single light on the wall next to it (it's hard to explain, since it's a basement) turned on, so I guess it wasn't enough light, and I didn't want to walk over to the lightswitch and turn it on, because I didn't want to step on a terrified mouse... or a cat, for that matter.
When I woke up, at around 7-ish or 8-ish, the cat was laying on my bed. Dad came downstairs to get something, and I pointed out the cat, and he saw a dead mouse (eep) on the floor. So he got rid of that. Later than morning, she was 'playing' with another mouse. I wasn't sure if it was dead, or if it was playing dead, but Dad got rid of it, too.
So Mom thinks I should make basic socks for my first pair, instead of Monkey. She also suggested that I make my first pair in a solid colour... only problem is, the pattern from Hip to Knit uses double knit, and I don't have enough green double knit for a pair of socks, and the only other double knit I have is the black with the coloured flecks. So yeah... I'd have to either go yarn shopping or look in Mom's stash.

Another funny
I forgot to mention something funny that happened at Costco.
Dad started looking at computers, because he wants to replace this one (it is at least five years old). So we were trying to crack the passwords on the computers. I couldn't get the first one, but the second one I tried to crack had a picture of a kitty as the user photo, so either my mom or my dad suggested that I try 'kitty'. It worked! But the computers were set up so that you can't access them even if you get the password right. It was still awesome, though :)
Mom and Dad went shopping while I stayed home and watched the David Gilmour DVD. When they came home, Dad immediately asked me to take frozen macaroni and cheese and frozen Jamacian patties to the downstairs freezer. I tried to put them in the big freezer, where frozen meals normally go, but it's packed. With meat. That they bought and sealed up with the Foodsaver vac-packer. So I got all PO'ed, and Mom told me to put it all in the bread freezer. So after complaining that the bread's gonna shatter, I put it in anyway. Then Dad storms downstairs, ready for an argument. Honestly, does he always have to be in attack mode when I'm angry? He could have spoken to me civilly. One of the baskets in the frezzed slips when I'm angrily trying to put it back in, so he says to let him do it. I'm trying to fix the problem, and he yells at me to get out of there and let him fix it. Typical.
And afterwards they gave me three packs of Pocky. Pocky are these biscuit sticks covered in chocolate, or strawberry cream, but I'm pretty sure that there are other flavours that we can't get here. They're made in Japan, and they're yummy. Plus, they aren't completely covered in chocolate - one tip is just bare biscuit so that your hand doesn't get messy! How awesome is that?
Anyway, Mom wanted me to apologize first, so I did. I did overreact, probably because I was in a rotten mood. The DVD skipped on a track or two, and I had to pause it a few times because the dogs were barking.
And now I'm listening to U2 :)

Back from the festival!
And I only spent $3! On a wooden ring! It's black with pink flowers, and it's quite pretty. I'll have to take a photo of it sometime.
My mom and I also got six buttons from a social justice tent. They're pretty awesome. I got one with a Nelson Mandela quote and one with a Rosa Parks quote.
But when we got funnel cakes, they were more like 'elephant ears'. And I don't mean the actual ears of elephants! I mean friend dough! I had icing sugar and whipped cream on mine, my mom had cinnamon sugar on hers and my dad had maple syrup and brown sugar on his. They were still good, but not exactly what we had anticipated, because we've had a proper funnel cake before. I can't remember where we got one, though...
It was raining on and off. The fella who directed us to a spot and took the $6 parking fee told us a psychiatrist joke: How many psychiatrists does it take to change a lightbulb? One - but only if the lightbulb really wants to change!
Before we started looking at the tents, Mom took a photo of some pretty flowers, then Dad went back to the car to get his sunglasses (I, as usual, forgot mine). While we waited for him to come back, Mom took two photos of a squirrel in a tree eating a potato chip.
Holly didn't e-mail me about going to the festival, so she was probably too busy. The festival wasn't that fabulous anyway - it used to be so much better, from what my parents told me. And it was raining, so it wouldn't have been much fun for Holly.

Feeling ick.
I'm an idiot.
I ate two small bowls of these spicy cheddar potato chips with some chip dip mixed with plain yogurt. Now I'm feelin' the burn.... literally.
However, the soundtrack from The Song Remains The Same is in transit, along with another CD - Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited (Insert happy dance here!).
I started working on a back-to-school shopping list - well, back-to-homeschool, to be precise. So far, I've decided that I need some pencils, a pen jar, a planner and some film for my purple camera. On my list is also a sub-list entitled 'other' - so far, I have knickers and black pants on that sub-list.
I also need to pester my dad to move that giant computer monitor off my table. I hate it when people dump stuff on my table - especially huge stuff like a friggin' computer monitor! That monstrosity was meant for me to use, but since my stupid, evil brother decided not to let me have his old CPU, even though he said I could if I got a monitor, keyboard, etc... well, the monitor is pretty much useless to me, but my dad can hook it up to this computer 'cause the monitor we're currently using is rather dark. I have to squint when I look at dark photos.
So there you have it. My dad, AKA He Who Never Listens.

Time for a quick post of anger.
I just had to use two tea bags because someone cut the milk bag too much, so the hole was big, and thus my tea became far too milky. I suspect it was Dad, but I don't know for certain.
The good news, though, is that the library will be adding new items tonight at 6:00! Yay!

Visiting my sister
I went to London, Ontario to see my sister Katie yesterday. My dad was meeting folks, so while we were waiting for him and my sister's boyfriend to come, the three of us - me, Katie and Mom - played Scrabble. Katie won, I came in second place, and Mom came in third. For me, the best part of the game was when I had a blank tile and got 'hijabs'. And, if I remember correctly, it was a triple-word score. Sweet :)
Also, she gave me three packs of gum. She bought this huge mixed pack of gum, and found out that she only liked one kind, so she game my mom three packs of peppermint gum and she gave me three packs of berry-flavoured gum. I was only going to take one pack when she offered us the gum, but she said, "You want two packs? Three?", and just gave them to me.
We went out to a Japanese restaurant for dinner. The food there is so good. I didn't eat any sushi (I wasn't too keen on it the first time I tried it), but I did have a bowl of BBQ pork udon, and some tempura, and some squid. Yum :) I also had a few edamame, which were quite good, and some deep-fried squid rings. Then everyone except Dad had ice cream. The servings of ice cream were small - which is actually good because desserts are often so huge. Mom, Katie and I had mango-flavoured ice cream and Katie's boyfriend had vanilla. The mango ice cream was so good!
I took two books with me for the trip there - a book about Bob Dylan, and Emperor Mage by Tamora Pierce. I was going to bring my discman, but I decided against it - I hate my discman. I really don't like the buttons on it, because you have to dig your finger into them, but that might have been because I had the discman on my bed while reading or something when I was using it. Anyway, I might have to get an MP3 player, so that I have some music to take with me on those long car rides.
