In which I actually blog about knitting

Hello, Blog. Long time, no see.

Due to a combination of laziness, slight emotional upheaval (which I won't get into here), and lack of faith in my writing skillz, I've avoided blogging. In fact, I've avoided most things, except knitting, crocheting (I'm getting better at it now), some reading, and watching TV. It's a bit sad, how things have turned out, but I'm putting on a brave face.

In my defense, it's been too bloody cold to do much of anything. Every time I mean to walk down to the library, the weather plunges into sub-zero temperatures. It's kind of turned me into an internet-obsessed hermit, which I really don't like.

But some good things have come out of my cabin fever. I'm once again participating in the Harry Potter Knit and Crochet House Cup on Ravelry, this time representing Hufflepuff. I've ventured out of my comfort zone and made a top-down hat - Foliage, from Knitty - and I'm currently making fingerless mitts that use two colours, the Bungled Mitts by Sharon Dreifuss, from an issue of Knitscene. I might take a picture of the first mitt when it's done, to show how neat it looks, but right now it's inside-out on double-pointed needles, so...

As far as reading goes, I'm reading an interesting book from the library called Save the Enemy by Arin Greenwood. I kind of reserved it on a whim, and it's been a good whim thus far. I love how flawed some of the characters are; it makes for good reading.

That's my life thus far. I'll try to be more vigilant about blogging. Emphasis on "try"...
