I had a really weird dream...

In my dream, my dad and I were on the front porch, and he was telling me that he found out that the guy he's sending a package to is a professional hockey player. Then he said, "Oh, Jimmy Page!" I looked behind me and saw Jimmy Page backing out of a neighbour's driveway!

Now I'm a little freaked out, because I watched the 'Sweet Transvestite' scene on YouTube, so does that mean I'll have a dream about Frank N. Furter?!

So much for regaining lost sleep...

I couldn't drift off again, so I put on my R.E.M. CD and went through some of my knitting magazines, looking for baby patterns. I'm hooked on baby knits. They're just so darn cute! The cardigan I'm working on is coming along nicely, although I'll have to block it because of some loose spots. I finished the increases, and next I have to cast on some stitches (eight, I think) on each end for the cuffs. Yep, it's knit in one piece.

My mom and I keep quoting from Rocky Horror. Like the other night. Mom was cooking dinner on the stove, and I was heating up some leftover pork chop to go with my potatoes - mom was cooking the rest of the pork chop pieces in saurkraut and onions, and I don't like saurkraut and onions most of the time, so she set aside some meat for me to heat up in the microwave. I can't remember what we were talking about, but I said, "It's ASTOUNDING..." and she continued, "Time is FLEETING..." Also, earlier tonight, I was talking to her about something (again, I can't remember what... maybe something knitting-related???), and I began, "I remember..." and my mom added, "Doing the TIME WARP...." It was so funny.

And since my mom has corners of her Flair board on Facebook devoted to certain themes (like Meatloaf and Rocky Horror), I decided to do the same thing with my Rocky Horror Flair and my Robert Plant Flair.

I hate it when I feel tired, but I can't go to sleep. Drives me nuts. I think it'll happen again tonight.

Not a very good morning...

It started early this morning. I couldn't get to sleep because the cat was playing with a mouse. Yes, I said 'playing'. I kept a light on in my room so that I could keep an eye on her - after all, who wants their cat to drop a mouse on their bed?

I somehow fell asleep and had the weirdest dream about going for a run, going to a yard sale and phoning Q107 to try out for their Joe Bloe Radio Show (basically, once a month, they pick someone from the phone-in auditions to co-host an hour of the evening show). Oh, and the dream also involved my mom meditating, if I remember correctly.

I woke up to find Smiles licking a dead mouse. Ugh. So I had to dispose of the mouse, then I had a shower.

So, not only am I feeling fatigued, but I also have a headache. I have to talk to my friends, Erica and Holly, about a shopping trip. But I'm too tired to suggest any dates to them, so I'll e-mail them later. I really do need to get out of the house more often - I rarely go shopping, and I never really shop with friends. I just never seemed interested in that sort of thing until now. But after all the crap with certain people, I need some retail therapy.

At leastI managed half a page of algebra yesterday. I don't know if I'll finish the page today... maybe after having a snooze to regain the sleep I lost.

Hiya!

So I still missed bits and pieces of Rocky Horror, because the satellite dish kept cutting out. I think it may have been the after-effects from the storm we had. Mom reckons that wherever we get the IFC signal from (probably Toronto) may have had troubles.

I went to the local Unitarian church today. One of the girls from youth group said hi to me before walking over to the far side of the sanctuary to sit with her mom, which was nice. I hope that the youth group meetings will get better when we meet again in the fall.

I feel bad because I didn't pay as much attention to the service as I should have. It was about Unitarian Universalists (or UUs) taking part in the civil rights movement. Maybe I'll borrow the sermon cassette from the church library so that I can listen to it again.

I'll probably reserve Rocky Horror from the library once I've picked up my stuff. I can't reserve anything until I've picked up the stuff that's waiting for me at the library.

Okay, people, you know the drill...

So my mom and I were watching the Rocky Horror Picture Show today, but it started raining heavily, so we didn't catch the last half hour. So I thought, okay, it's on again at 5:00, I'll catch it then. So then my mom asks me if I want to go to the roller derby, and I told her that I wasn't sure. So she says, "You just said that you wanted to get out of the house more!" But I wanna watch Rocky Horror! COME ON!!!

So I'm going to watch the last half hour, 'cause Dad's watching a movie. So that means I'll be off the computer at 6:00.

I went a little crazy.... :D

So last night my mom was on her laptop, watching scenes from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and after that she moved on to Meat Loaf videos . Did she succeed in trying to embarrass me? Perhaps, because after trying to sing over top of her (and not succeeding), I went downstairs and put on Bryan Adams Unplugged. But after a little while, I figured that using the computer would be better.

So I fired up the computer and played the video of Summer of '69. Whether it was on my blog or on YouTube itself, I'm not sure. I later moved on to other songs - the Bryan Adams songs had to be played on YouTube, because I don't own any of his albums, but the songs by U2, Queen and Led Zeppelin were played on iTunes. By around 11:00 PM, my head and ears were aching. The upside, though, is that my mom sent me the link to the YouTube video she was watching, and she sent me the lyrics from The Lemon Song by Led Zeppelin.

Oh, and I created a YouTube account.

My head's a little bit achy right now, and I'm so bloody warm. I have to go change into something else.

Baby cardigans and Bryan Adams (dogs, too!)

Let's start with baby cardigans.

I cast on for Lion Brand's One-Stitch Baby Cardigan, because I need to use up my two skeins of Cotton-Ease. It's the first time I've knit with cotton, and so far it's going good. The yarn split a few times, but it didn't catch on the needles like acrylic does. Okay, so Cotton-Ease is actually 50% cotton and 50% acrylic, but hey, it still counts as knitting with cotton....right?

Next, my silly dogs. Smiles, Teddy and Lulu were outside in the pouring rain. This is unusual for Lulu because she doesn't like getting wet, but the reason she was out there was because there was a squirrel on our neighbor's roof. Thus, three soaking wet dogs needed to be dried off. Drying them off is actually fun, because they don't mind being dried off. Smiles loves it - if you throw a towel over her head, she has a blast. Teddy tends to go over to the big dog bed and roll around like a kitten, so now there's a huge wet spot on the dog bed.

And now, about Bryan Adams. I went to the library the other day (yesterday, I think) to pick up Monster Ballads Xmas, and while I was there I thought I'd look through their CDs. I found Ray Davies's newest, which is called Working Man's Cafe, and Bryan Adams Unplugged. I was going to check out Bruce Springsteen's Devils & Dust, but I figured I shoudl listen to the Springsteen album I'm already borrowing first. I listened to Bryan Adams Unplugged last night, and wow. That album is going on my Christmas list. I love it. The unplugged versions of Summer of '69 and Cuts Like a Knife are works of art. I also found out that Heaven is one of his songs.

Mmmmmm..... chicken wings....

Yep. We ordered chicken wings again. Five pounds total: two pounds of hot curry, three pounds of honey garlic. As I mentioned before, I love their honey garlic wings. I'll even eat them cold the next day. Seriously. I ate four leftover wings cold, and the other four warmed up. I tried a hot curry one last night, but I can't eat them. Too hot. Nowadays, my stomach hates spicy food, which is really a pity because I love spicy food. I think it depends on what I eat, though. If I have soy milk or something like that with something spicy, it helps cut down on the pain. For instance, some cheese on a bowl of chili. I had a glass of soy milk with that one chicken wing, and it helped.

Okay, I'm a lazy blogger.

But really, not a lot has happened.

I went to Michael's yesterday to get some yarn (even though I'm supposed to be de-stashing) for a project I intend on starting. I won't say what, in case someone reads it and spills. Then today I went to Len's to get a button for my ruff. I got a pair of sparkly star shank buttons, which I think will go well with the blur yarn. I'm not sure what I'll do with the second button - maybe I'll make a purse.

I've also joined the Teen RAK (Random Acts of Kindness) group on Ravelry. It's already quite fun.

The destashing is going well. I used up a skein of blue acrylic for that ruff, nearly a skein of Lion Brand Imagine on my mobius wrap, and some Wool-Ease Thick & Quick. I also might use up my Knit Picks Wool of the Andes by making a felted punk tie, and I cast on for a pair of fingerless gloves, which will use up some of my black DK. I also used just over a skein of my Berella Whistler by making my hood, but I still need to make the ties, which will use more Whistler of the same colour.

Other than that, there's nothing else to report. I only got one decent shot of the yarn I just got, so I'll put up photos in another post when I get a decent shot of the darker colour. I'll also take a photo of the buttons.

Singing to my cat.

Yep. I sang to my cat today.

Q107 played Have a Cigar by Pink Floyd, so I sang along to the cat. Mouse has been very talkative lately. I'll start walking to the stairs, and she won't leave me alone. I'll tell her, "You go up the stairs, I'll follow you."

Anyway, I couldn't knit while listening to that song, so I set my knitting down, got up and paced. After a little while I sat back down on my bed.

I sang, "And did we tell you the name of the game, boy?"

"Reh," Mouse squawked in reply.

I laughed through the next line.

And, a few minutes ago, Dad chased Lulu, Goldie and Teddy away (they were probably on the couch), so they came in here. I made goofy high-pitched noises at Lulu (you know, the sounds you make when a cute dog is near), and she jumped up in my lap. "You're gonna clunk your head!" I told her right before she jumped. When she was in my lap (without clunking her head), I continued, "Miss I-Smell-Like-Pollen!"

ETA: I was able to knit during the guitar solo at the end. My Mobius Wrap is halfway done.

Hellboy II is awesome!!!

Yep, I saw Hellboy II: The Golden Army tonight, and it was fantastic. Although I was a bit annoyed at the fact that they changed Liz's fire - it used to be blue, now it's red. HUH???

In other news, I have Edge of Seventeen by Stevie Nicks stuck in my head. And the newest Bruce Springsteen album is at the library for me to pick up, and Help! (the movie, that is), A Saucerful of Secrets (a Pink Floyd album) and Pretty in Punk are in transit - which is a relief, because I can't make anything out of Punk Knits. Well, maybe I could use my green DK for a knitted tie, but I'd rather not. I wanted to make it out of my black DK with the multicoloured flecks, but my gauge was waaaaaay too big.

It turns out that I did not get two skein of the black. They're both black, yes, but one has differect colour flecks. One has bluish fleck, the other more reds and yellows (shown above). Sorry for the mistake.

I also got some Berrocco Optik, and lovely sock yarn.

I got more yarn, but I can't fit any more photos in this post, and some of the yarn photos I took didn't turn out well, so I'll take new ones and put them and the ones that wouldn't fit here in a new post.

My thumb's better.

So, my thumb is healing nicely. Which is good, because that means I'll be able to play Final Fantasy VIII sometime soon. I had to start a new file a week or two ago because I got lost on my first file. Yikes.

I went to cardio kickboxing last night, and now I'm aching. It's my own fault, 'cause I haven't been going to cardio kickboxing on a regular basis like I should be.

Also, I started a new short story. It's about ghost hunters. I was so excited when I started writing down the characters names, because I'm so pround of the story idea.

I added a few more books to my GoodReads to-read list. Everyone has been talking about Twilight, so I thought, "Why not? Everyone on Ravelry who's read it loves it, so it can't be bad."

And now I'm craving honey garlic chicken wings. We ordered chicken wings last night, and we got some honey garlic ones. I had three for lunch and I'm hungry again. There's still five left, but I'll leave them for Dad.

The hood is off the needles!

It's not a very good photo, but it's the finished project!

I wasn't sure if I'd get it done today, because I sliced my thumb on a can lid. I was opening a couple cans of chili, and one can had a pull-off lid and the other was a standard can that needed to be opened with a can opener. So I got the lid off and was rinsing off the lid that I had to get off the standard can, and I accidentally cut my thumb. It's not that bad a cut, so I just cleaned it and put a knuckle band-aid on it, even though the cut isn't on the knuckle - it's on the pad of my thumb, which means I won't be playing Final Fantasy VIII for a few days.

Anyway, I was worried that the yarn would get caught on this band-aid, so my dad told me that there was two first aid kits downstairs. So, I brought one up and found a fingertip bandage (not Band-Aid brand, just a generic brand), and put it on. I managed to do the three-needle bind-off on my hood, and now it just needs ties! I think I'll use my blue chunky for the ties, because the blue will go well with the grey.

This pattern is such a nice, quick pattern. I love it. I only have an inch or two left, I think, before I have to do the three-needle bind-off. Fun. I've never done that before, so it'll be.... interesting.

In other news, I put the U2 album that I bought at the Streetfest on the computer. War is such a good album. My favourite track off of the album would have to be either 'New Year's Day' or 'Seconds', and 'Two Hearts Beat As One' is also great.

Bob Dylan's coming to town!!!!!!!!

I know I probably won't get tickets, but I'm still really happy. I'm also happy because I've entered a draw for Rush tickets and a meet-and-greet on Q107's online listener's club - I've got over 200 ballots on the draw. The only downside is that my friend, who is a Rush fan, might be out of town on the day of the concert.

My mom has suggested that I take a day off knitting, because last night my hands were aching from knitting. Then again, I did work on three projects...

Time for a quick post of anger.

I just had to use two tea bags because someone cut the milk bag too much, so the hole was big, and thus my tea became far too milky. I suspect it was Dad, but I don't know for certain.

The good news, though, is that the library will be adding new items tonight at 6:00! Yay!
