I'm just listening to the tail-end of 'Eighteen' by Alice Cooper. Oh, it's finished now; time for a new song...
...okay, Thin Lizzy it is.
So my mom gave me another talking-to about how my tiredness and lack of science knowledge are my own fault (um, who was responsible for my education for twelve years?). Needless to say, I'm livid. Granted, I did tell her to f--k off, but rightly so because she made fun of me for saying that my yawning was to blame for messing up on my science diagnostic test (what I meant was that I was tired and put the wrong answer down, but whatever).
I actually considered running off to the library, but there's probably snow on the sidewalks, so I'll just wait until Dad gets home and ask for a ride. He's very sympathetic when it comes to Mom's attitude.

Cutesy manga makes me wanna listen to j-pop
I picked up the second volume of Full Moon O Sagashite from the library when I went to pick up my reserved stuff. I decided to check the manga shelf first to see if it was there, and it was, so I grabbed it. That way, I didn't have to fuss with reserving it.
So anyway, I've been reading it, and it's been making me want to listen to j-pop, because the story's about a girl with sarcoma who wants to be a singer, and a couple of shinigami (death gods) agree to turn her into a healthy 16-year-old (she had to be sixteen to qualify for an audition, and she can't sing loudly with her cancer). So when I read the parts when she's singing, the lyrics and the flowery illustrations make me want to fire up my computer and listen to some Hikaru Utada. Which I'm doing now.
Oh, the song's done. Hmm, what to listen to now...
...now I'm listening to another Hikaru Utada song ;P it's an addiction.
So I did the diagnostic test for social studies in my GED book. I got 32 out of 50 correct, although I think I accidentally re-read graphs and stuff when I wasn't supposed to. But that still isn't bad, considering I haven't done much social studies work in at least a year.
I have a sharp little headache from the weather. It went to warm and no snow to fluffy snow everywhere. It's still a little warm for February, though. My left eye was aching and stinging, too, but I think that was from when I got shampoo in my eye in the shower.

A trip to Michaels
And once again, I didn't buy yarn.
I did get some beads, though. I got these blue teardrop-shaped glass beads with yellow-green accents in them, some small amber-coloured beads (I can't remember if they're glass or not), these cool metal charms - I think two of them were teapots, two were cups, and one was this cameo thing, and... I can't remember what the other one was - and a pack of findings and wire. I haven't started beading yet, but I'm gonna keep hitting the clearance racks and the sales.
I was going to get yarn, but Mom kinda steered us back to the beads :( Apparently, I can just knit from HER stash to make the punk fingerless gloves I want to make. Even though the pattern says to use Red Heart and Caron. Argh.
Eh... I'll just wait for when Red Heart Super Saver goes on sale. Or I can use the dark green and tan Red Heart that I have... blah... I think that the next time I make a birthday list for Grandpa, I'll put a Michaels gift card on it ;)

I'm on a Van Halen kick.
It started yesterday, when I decided to look for this song on YouTube...
My former karate instructor, Mr. B, used to bring in this mix CD that had 'Mean Street' as the first track, and he'd play it during kickboxing class. I miss his classes - he had great taste in music, and he was a good instructor. Pity he decided to part ways with Mr. P the Jerk, but I can see why Mr. B got fed up.
I should get some Van Halen out of the library. The only Van Halen we have is the live album Right Here, Right Now. I don't know how we came by that - I think Dad might've won it from a radio contest, back when our local rock radio station was still good. Dad used to win a bunch of stuff from that station, but now they're a crap station and we listen to Q107 out of Toronto, and calling in to Q for contests would cost us long-distance charges. But I'm in their online listeners' club, so I can enter draws. Speaking of which, I've entered another draw for an iPod... probably won't win it, though, but it's worth a try, right? I mean, somebody's gotta win.
There used to be this hilarious video on YouTube - well, it was actually just a sound clip and a still image, and it was David Lee Roth singing 'Running With the Devil' in the studio, with no background music because he had the headphones on, I guess. Anyway, I forgot to add it to my favourites or bookmark it, and I haven't been able to find it. It's hilarious, though. I should try looking for it again. If I find it, I'll post it. Actually, I sent the video link to Max in an e-mail, so I should try that.

My computer sounds like an insect.
It has started rattling when it boots up. I don't know if this is normal or not, but eh, it's an old computer. That, and it was built for Dan (my sister's boyfriend) by a friend of his.
Valentine's Day hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. I got to sing 'All You Need is Love' in church - it wasn't a hymn, but it was the closing music, and everyone was encouraged to sing. At the end of the service, the congregation gathered together for a photo for this thing called the Standing on the Side of Love campaign that the UU churches are doing. And I wore my spiral scarf in the photo :D
I also ate chocolate (my parents bought these huge Toblerone bars the other day), listened to Beyonce's 'Single Ladies' and the J. Geils Band's 'Love Stinks', and read a bit of Blood and Chocolate while listening to Bruce Springsteen's The Ghost of Tom Joad, which I'm borrowing from the library. It's a really good album. It's kinda folksy-sounding; not as upbeat as most of his albums, but still pretty great. I reserved Nebraska from the library, and I'm curious to hear what that album sounds like. I'm going to reserve The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle and Tunnel of Love afterwards, when I don't have a lot of CDs out.

Dental woes and TWLOHA
I went to the dentist's. They told me I have mini-cavities in my upper molars, and the hygienist put some fluoride on them to stall them. I feel sorry for her, because I was in such a panic over the mini-cavities. She told me they're really small, and they have a numbing gel to use instead of freezing injections, which is good news. I'm hoping the problem will fix itself, but I'm not counting on it. Thus, I am thoroughly depressed.
I wrote 'love' on my wrists after my shower this morning - I wanted to make sure they wouldn't rinse off in the shower, so I did them after. I wrote 'love' in handwriting and 'TWLOHA '10 ' below that in capital letters in a black Papermate Uni-Ball pen, and on the other arm I just wrote 'LOVE' and a couple of hearts, which was tricky because I'm right-handed. The left hand smudged badly, so I had to redo it.

I have to go to the dentist's tomorrow.
Oh joy, oh fun.
I'm excited about the Olympics tomorrow, though. Rush are performing in the opening ceremonies, which will be awesome.
So tomorrow is the first of two To Write Love On Her Arms days. To Write Love On Her Arms is a group for raising awareness about depression, self-injury and suicide. You write 'LOVE' on your arms on February 12th and 13th to show your support. I think it's important to spread awareness, so I'm going to take part in it this year. I didn't hear about this event until this week, though - I knew about the cause, and I'm a fan of it on Facebook. So tomorrow morning I'm going to write 'LOVE' on one or both arms.
There's other news that I want to speak of, but since this is cyberspace, I'm not going to. Let's just say it's about a relative. And I'm not all that impressed about the news, but oh well.
I'm making a maple leaf illusion dishcloth. It looks pretty neat right now. I got a fair bit of it done while watching the first disc of Life on Mars. That series is awesome.

I haven't posted in, like, 5 days.
Silly, inconsistent me.
So I watched the Super Bowl halftime show. It was pretty awesome. Then again, The Who have always been pretty awesome. Dad wasn't going to watch it (he called them 'sellouts' - how dare he! I'm never getting him a Who album for his birthday or Christmas ;) ), but Mom told him that I wanted to, so he put it back to the Super Bowl. I started putting dishes away and Dad was like "Come watch the halftime!" and Mom was like "The dishes can wait! you'll never see this again!!!" They can be so ridiculous sometimes.
And I watched a bit of the game, but I don't like football, so all this fumble and interception nonsense confuzzled me. And on commercial (on effing COMMERCIAL, PEOPLE!!!) Dad was 'shush'ing me. WTF?! So I went back upstairs and went on Facebook to check on my FishVille fish. I have a new tank now :) Problem is, I have to build up my coins again. Boo.
I'm hungry again. Maybe I'll have chips. But, alas, there's no pickle dip left. I should've got some while it was still there. Or I can eat another orange. Or I can bring up the last pack of crumpets and be all fancy. Or I can defrost some bread and have a sandwich. Hmm.

D'you know what it's like?
I'm listening to 'All Revved Up With No Place to Go' by Meatloaf. The title of this post is a line from the song.
I'm a little on edge right now, so I'm listening to music that will calm me down. I've had a rotten day for the most part.
It started this morning when I checked my e-mail and got another a message from Stephen (youth group leader) saying that the group was planning a charity potluck for Haiti - which is great, but I wish I'd had a little more notice. I calmed down fairly quickly and proceeded to Facebook and Ravelry.
Then I got an e-mail from the office manager that was sent to the entire youth group saying that there was no meeting, because the sanctuary, where we had planned to hold our meetings (the loft is being rented out on our usual meeting days for a little while). So I freaked out a bit. But I thought, 'well, at least I don't have to worry about missing In Treatment'. I hate to miss the Tuesday episode of In Treatment, because Tuesday episodes are ones with the character April. She's my favourite. April is a college student who has cancer, but won't tell her parents because she doesn't want to burden them, because her brother is autistic so she thinks her parents have enough on their plates.
I'm babbling. Anyway, me and Mom were making dinner (she's making me cook... eep...), and I think she went to check the main e-mail account (I don't know what else to call it... it's the email account that our internet provider gave us, for using Microsoft Outlook) and saw that we were all sent yet another e-mail saying that youth group was indeed still happening. I didn't go. I'm guessing they held the meeting in the foyer.
In addition to that, I took a GED diagnostic test on writing, and only got 31 out of 50 questions correct. I was pretty bummed out. It was basically a test on usage, punctuation, paragraphs, that kind of thing. Looking back, I don't think I did that horribly, considering I haven't practiced that area of writing in a long time. I got over half the questions right, so that's not bad.
On the upside, I made most of dinner and I didn't burn it! :D It was a bean curry thing. It was supposed to be made with black-eyed peas, but I couldn't find any cans of them in the cellar, so we used white kidney beans instead. I can now mince/dice an onion, grate garlic and ginger, and sautee onions in oil in a pan. I think the smell of garlic is finally out of my hands. The night before, we made leek and potato soup, which turned out to be a little looser than we had anticipated, but still pretty tasty. Mom wants me to make Yorkshire pudding tomorrow.
The new HPKCHC class threads are up. I might make an octopus stuffie for Herbology (make something that can be found in the bottom of the sea), and something spider-themed for Transfiguration (make something that scares you).
