In which Merenwen battles indigestion and other nuisances.

Chili and a Coke? What was I THINKING?!

Actually, the chili was kinda weak. Next time I'll put hot sauce in it and have the Pepto tablets at the ready.

Youth group was good and bad. The good news was that I got my point across about actually doing things, and we might have meetings over the summer! The bad news was that Stone was there, and was being obnoxious. I didn't walk out of the loft, though, until close to the end of the meeting when I went to see if Dad was there yet. But Stone said some stuff that I think he should have kept to himself. Private stuff. I won't say who it was about. But let's just say I'm pissed.

When I got back from youth group, I told my mom about the possibility of summer meetings. I said something like, "Stephen suggested that we have meetings over the summer..." and Mom said "No." Then I told her about how I suggested that we have the summer meetings be ever other week instead of every week. I'm so pissed that she automatically said no. What is her problem with summer meetings? Is she planning something for the summer and isn't telling me? I don't have to go to every meeting, just as many as possible! And Stephen would totally understand if I miss a meeting due to doing something with my family!!!!!

On a happier note, I think I'll try getting back into journal writing. I think I miss it. I've picked up I Capture the Castle again after a long break from it - reading it is something else I've missed. I seem to be in a reading funk - plus, I've been kicking myself because I didn't get this book at Indigo about Mary Shelley when I got my bargain books there. Damn! And I can't remember what it was called or who wrote it! I'll have to go to Indigo and see if I can find it. I like Indigo better than Chapters - even though they're the same company now, I like Indigo better because it's better ordganised.

I listened to the library's copy of Pink Floyd's The Final Cut. It's interesting. Very bitter, but interesting. I think a sound effect from one of the songs actually made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up - I was listening to the CD on headphones, so I was able to hear everything pretty clearly.

I might walk down to the library tomorrow, if I feel up to it. Today I only felt like reading. And I felt miserable earlier. But I think I'm okay now. I'm just sick of all this crap with my family. I wish my brother would call home. I wish Mom would get off my case about what I should be learning. I wish I had the courage to walk to the library by myself. I wish Grandpa wouldn't be such an ass. I wish Patti would get over herself and stop acting like a child. I wish I'd spent my childhood better. I feel like I'm running out of time.

More favourite songs!

Perhaps I should have warned you first - Paradise by the Dashboard Light, at the bottom of the page, is a bit too mature for younger readers/listeners.

Supertramp, 'Bloody Well Right'

Journey, 'Don't Stop Believing'

Genesis, 'Squonk'. Sorry about the poor sound quality on this one.

Genesis, 'The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway'

Led Zeppelin, 'The Crunge'

Pink Floyd, 'Wots... Uh The Deal'

Meat Loaf, 'Paradise by the Dashboard Light'. ETA: the first YouTube video/sound clip I put up was incomplete, so I put in the full one. I would've put the original video in this post, but it's a bit graphic for younger readers.

Some favourite songs of mine

Jethro Tull, 'Locomotive Breath'...

Pink Floyd, 'Childhood's End'...

Supertramp, 'Crime of the Century'... I have removed this one because of a still that shows some nudity. I found a new one, which I have placed below.

Meat Loaf, 'Bat Out Of Hell' This one has been removed by YouTube, but if you look at the October 6th post, entitled 'Because the first one got removed...' , there's a different still with the song. Sorry about that, folks!

Jethro Tull, 'Bungle in the Jungle'...

Meat Loaf, 'You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth'...

Hi, I'm a title :)

...Yeah, I don't really feel like coming up with a clever title today. And '(no subject)' just won't cut it today.

Q107 did play parts three and four of the Pink Floyd story. I missed the beginning of part three, though - I also had missed the beginning of part one, actually. It was interesting. But I didn't listen to the live cut of 'Comfortable Numb' from start to finish. It was the live cut from Live 8, when they reunited for one night.

I'm still really sad about Richard Wright's passing. In fact, I think it's starting to make me a bit depressed. I didn't sleep well - I read Twilight for a bit, but then I got too tired to focus on it. But then I got so restless I had to walk around my room. And then I had a terrifying thought - I won't say exactly what the thought was. I know it's normal for a teen's mind to wander like that, but I'm still trying to tell myself, "No, you are not going to do that. Now sleep."

I had depressing thoughts once when I was nearly fourteen. My dog had died then, and my room/basement had flooded. Sometimes I'll get depressing thoughts, but then I kick them away and I feel better. I'm hoping I don't have to go on medication or something. I'm hoping this is just my typical teenage brain playing tricks on me.

Silly speakers...

My speakers seem to be possessed. Seriously. They cut in and out. Well, they are old speakers - they're from our old 386, which I think was our first computer. Then the computer along with the speakers because my brother's, then he traded the speakers with my sister in return for a Walkman. My sister used the speakers for a while - she used to plug them into her discman. Then they sat in the laundry room for a few years. They can go really loud, but I'm trying to take it easy on them since they're so old. Maybe I'll ask for new speakers for Christmas. Or a printer.

So far my files have stopped disappearing, which is a good thing, but I'm still gonna work on my story in Google Docs. I wrote another draft for my story, but it took me a bit of time to get it to look okay. I wrote the original draft on paper early this morning while listening to the replaying of the Legends of Classic Rock program on Pink Floyd, parts one and two. I wonder if they're playing parts three and four tonight...

I think I'll turn off my computer and see what mom and dad are watching on the telly.

Something I put on my Facebook

I heard this song yesterday during Q107's Pink Floyd weekend to honor Richard Wright. I love it. I think I had heard it before, actually. Luckily, my dad owns the album it comes from, The Division Bell. I'll have to ask him if I can put it on my computer.

Here's the video...

ETA: The song is called 'High Hopes', and it's the last track on The Division Bell.

Late night reading

Either late last night or early this morning I read Twilight and listened to The Legends of Classic Rock. Normally it's on Sunday nights and replayed on the following Saturday morning, but last night/this morning, they played parts one and two of the Pink Floyd story to honor Richard Wright's life.

Once again, the music fit well with the story. I was reading the part where Bella and Edward are eating dinner at the Italian restaurant. I normally don't read at night, but I decided to try aiming my flashlight at one spot so that I'd have enough light. It worked. I had enough light to read by, plus I had my duvet over me to keep me warm. The music soothed me, too.

I'm kinda mad at myself because I didn't pick up the phone in time a moment ago. I had music on up here and didn't here the phone ringing until it was on the last ring and going to the answering machine. Luckily, it was just the library.

I think I'll go heat up some leftover pasta that I spied in the fridge. 'Scuse me.

R.I.P. Richard Wright

I just found out this afternoon that Richard Wright from Pink Floyd has died. I was fighting tears until I couldn't any longer. I went into the kitchen to get a glass of soy milk. That was only a decoy. I cried. In the kitchen.

I cried in the living room, and my mom thought I was crying about my annoying grandparents, because I had been talking about them. But I was really crying about Richard. When I saw him on David Gilmour's Remember That Night DVD and the VH1 program I'd seen on YouTube via the Legends of Classic Rock blog, he seemed healthy. I don't know what he died of - I haven't done an internet search because sometimes the internet isn't always right.

I wanted to meet him someday. I admire him greatly. Pink Floyd just isn't the same without Richard Wright.

Update: I just found out that he died of cancer. Thank you for telling me, Taryn.

Singing to my cat.

Yep. I sang to my cat today.

Q107 played Have a Cigar by Pink Floyd, so I sang along to the cat. Mouse has been very talkative lately. I'll start walking to the stairs, and she won't leave me alone. I'll tell her, "You go up the stairs, I'll follow you."

Anyway, I couldn't knit while listening to that song, so I set my knitting down, got up and paced. After a little while I sat back down on my bed.

I sang, "And did we tell you the name of the game, boy?"

"Reh," Mouse squawked in reply.

I laughed through the next line.

And, a few minutes ago, Dad chased Lulu, Goldie and Teddy away (they were probably on the couch), so they came in here. I made goofy high-pitched noises at Lulu (you know, the sounds you make when a cute dog is near), and she jumped up in my lap. "You're gonna clunk your head!" I told her right before she jumped. When she was in my lap (without clunking her head), I continued, "Miss I-Smell-Like-Pollen!"

ETA: I was able to knit during the guitar solo at the end. My Mobius Wrap is halfway done.

Hellboy II is awesome!!!

Yep, I saw Hellboy II: The Golden Army tonight, and it was fantastic. Although I was a bit annoyed at the fact that they changed Liz's fire - it used to be blue, now it's red. HUH???

In other news, I have Edge of Seventeen by Stevie Nicks stuck in my head. And the newest Bruce Springsteen album is at the library for me to pick up, and Help! (the movie, that is), A Saucerful of Secrets (a Pink Floyd album) and Pretty in Punk are in transit - which is a relief, because I can't make anything out of Punk Knits. Well, maybe I could use my green DK for a knitted tie, but I'd rather not. I wanted to make it out of my black DK with the multicoloured flecks, but my gauge was waaaaaay too big.

Aching :(

What a fascinating dilemma. My stomach is aching, but I don't feel sick - it's more like a muscle pain, like I pulled a muscle or got kicked really hard. But I haven't been to karate recently, so I assume that I pulled a muscle. My right shin is also aching a little.

On the upside, I watched The Best of the Muppet Show today while working on my ruff. My mom's borrowing The Best of the Muppet Show and The Muppet Show, Season 1 from the library. We watched the first disc of season 1 of the Muppet Show as well. Also, the first season of Cowboy Bebop is in transit, and so is the soundtrack from Shine a Light. So I'm really happy about that.

I also made a mix CD of calming music - stuff like The Battle of Evermore by Led Zeppelin, and If by Pink floyd, among other songs. I'll listen to it when I'm reading, or knitting, or doing algebra, and I'll probably listen to it before going to bed, to help me sleep.
