Look at that, I remembered to post ;)
The weather yesterday was quite lovely. When I went to the library with Dad, I only needed a light jacket. I really should have sat outside with a book yesterday, but I never did - although it did start to get very windy, so maybe it was a good idea that I stayed inside.
Today I went to Michaels with my parents. I didn't buy anything, but my mom bought some stuff. Afterwards, we went to PetSmart to buy new toys for the dogs to replace the smelly old rubber bone and a chewed-through ring toy, and then we went to Indigo, where I finally spent the $10.44 on Mom's Christmas gift card (she gave me the rest of the gift card). I bought City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau, which I hear is an excellent book. I thought about buying Coraline by Neil Gaiman, but decided on City of Ember. Maybe if I get another gift card from Grandma and Grandpa for my birthday, I'll buy Coraline.
I feel like I've been abandoning my NaNoWriMo novel from last November. I looked at my draft the other day, and was a little annoyed with some parts of it - I want to work on it, but I want to edit it at the same time. But tomorrow, when Dad's watching his Nascar race, I'll probably work on it.
That's all - I have to go eat soon. Bye :)

I went to Michaels and didn't buy yarn
But there were beads on sale, so I got a pair of large bird beads :)
I think I'll string one on some black satin cord I have leftover from a beaded key chain kit that Patti got me for Christmas once. Or maybe it was my birthday. I don't know. All I know is that it was a late gift, and my brother had to leave a message on her answering machine to actually get our presents.
After Michaels, we went to PetSmart because we had to get cat litter, and this dog with curly black fur (don't know what breed it was) came up to us and said hello. And a little dog saw Dad and started dancing happily. It was really cute. And another guy had a spaniel of some kind and was looking at the Kong toys, and Dad recommended these orange street hockey balls that we got for our dogs.
And then we went to Indigo. I didn't really get anything, but me and Mom are gonna share the 25 Cushions to Knit book that we got. Mom got a couple other books, too.
So, I reserved the book Home for the Holidays from the library. It's a book of short stories that has the one short story that the movie Home for the Holidays was based on.
I think I'm gonna read more of Blood and Chocolate today, and try and work on finishing it. And I have to read more of the GED book to keep Mom from bitching me out.

Epic win, I do declare
The cake turned out really well. The brown sugar icing got really thick and fudgy, but I didn't mind. I got to eat it off the beater :)
Mom forgot to bring down another pressie, so I got a very nice purse this morning. It's pink, but not overly girly pink. I love it.
Dad has this habit of playing with every single electronic device that someone in this family acquires. It's a tad annoying. Without asking me, he got my camera's battery and battery charger out of the box and started charging the battery yesterday afternoon. And then he went to play poker with the neighbors, so the battery was forgotten until the evening when me and Mom realized that it was still charging, so I unplugged it. I was going to bring it downstairs, but Mom told me to leave it up there, so I handed the case and floating strap (for underwater photos) to her and she put them on the coffee table.
Anyways. I had cake for breakfast, and we might be going to Indigo, because we need to go to PetSmart to get dog treats, and Indigo is in the same plaza.
I'm hungry. What to eat? Besides cake. Um... we have lunchmeat. Huzzah! And there's still a brownie-cookie-thing in the fridge.

Speakers and Shorts
Today has been good and not so good.
Me and my parents went out for breakfast, then we went to the British imports shop, where I got some Munchies and a peppermint chocolate bar that I can't remember the name of. I resisted the urge to beg my parents to buy me a Beatles t-shirt ;) We got other stuff, too, like Mom's favourite tea, and some biscuits, and some crisps.
After that we went to Indigo to look for that book about Mary Shelley. I think I've found the title and author (!), but the book isn't in, and I don't want to order it up until I'm certain that it's the one I had seen before. Maybe I'll put in a purchase request for it on the library's website... Anyways, I did get a discounted book called Crystal Doors, which I'd heard was a good book. The regular price is $21.99 Canadian, and it was on sale for $5.99! :D
Then me and Dad went into PetSmart to buy dog food, cat food and cat litter. Turns out the cat food we get is in new packaging. Weird. Even weirder is that the dog food of the same brand is in the same style bag as the old cat food bags. But we get a different brand of dog food. In fact, we get PetSmart's own brand of dog food.
We went home, and then me and Dad went out again because I wanted to look at shorts and Mom wanted us to go to the library to pick up a DVD she reserved. So we went to a local mall, which is smaller than the other local malls. Unfortunately, they're renovating it and all of the small businesses will have to relocate. I hate it when people force out the small businesses - especially when some of the local shopping districts are becoming more commercial! It really annoys me how big businesses get to squash the smaller ones. And there's some nice small businesses in this mall, like the Dutch imports shop. I love that place - they carry some of the best chocolate. And now they might have to move.
On the upside, I found some shorts that weren't super-short. I got two pairs of belted shorts (one brown, one green) and two pairs of shorts with a stretchy elastic waist (one beige, one light green). I hope they fit after they're washed and dried - the stretchy-waist ones are in the dryer now.
Then we went to the library, where some UFI (Unidentified Flying Insect) flew into me as I got out of the car, and I freaked out. After I recovered we went in to pick up me and Mom's stuff. I noticed that a self-checkout is being set up in the library, which makes me worry a little about whether or not they'll be hiring now. I mean, of course they'll need people to do paperwork, stock shelves, etc, but it still worries me a little. After another UFI siege (which turned out to be something like a flying ant - not sure if it was the same bug as when I got out of the car, though), we went home.
And now my speakers won't work. I was trying to listen to a live video of Stevie Nicks singing 'Gold Dust Woman', and I noticed that I wasn't getting sound out of the right speaker, so I wiggled the speaker plugs, like I normally do, and both speakers cut out. DAMN! Now I might have to steal Dad's old speakers, if he's willing to part with them...

In which Merenwen battles indigestion and other nuisances.
Chili and a Coke? What was I THINKING?!
Actually, the chili was kinda weak. Next time I'll put hot sauce in it and have the Pepto tablets at the ready.
Youth group was good and bad. The good news was that I got my point across about actually doing things, and we might have meetings over the summer! The bad news was that Stone was there, and was being obnoxious. I didn't walk out of the loft, though, until close to the end of the meeting when I went to see if Dad was there yet. But Stone said some stuff that I think he should have kept to himself. Private stuff. I won't say who it was about. But let's just say I'm pissed.
When I got back from youth group, I told my mom about the possibility of summer meetings. I said something like, "Stephen suggested that we have meetings over the summer..." and Mom said "No." Then I told her about how I suggested that we have the summer meetings be ever other week instead of every week. I'm so pissed that she automatically said no. What is her problem with summer meetings? Is she planning something for the summer and isn't telling me? I don't have to go to every meeting, just as many as possible! And Stephen would totally understand if I miss a meeting due to doing something with my family!!!!!
On a happier note, I think I'll try getting back into journal writing. I think I miss it. I've picked up I Capture the Castle again after a long break from it - reading it is something else I've missed. I seem to be in a reading funk - plus, I've been kicking myself because I didn't get this book at Indigo about Mary Shelley when I got my bargain books there. Damn! And I can't remember what it was called or who wrote it! I'll have to go to Indigo and see if I can find it. I like Indigo better than Chapters - even though they're the same company now, I like Indigo better because it's better ordganised.
I listened to the library's copy of Pink Floyd's The Final Cut. It's interesting. Very bitter, but interesting. I think a sound effect from one of the songs actually made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up - I was listening to the CD on headphones, so I was able to hear everything pretty clearly.
I might walk down to the library tomorrow, if I feel up to it. Today I only felt like reading. And I felt miserable earlier. But I think I'm okay now. I'm just sick of all this crap with my family. I wish my brother would call home. I wish Mom would get off my case about what I should be learning. I wish I had the courage to walk to the library by myself. I wish Grandpa wouldn't be such an ass. I wish Patti would get over herself and stop acting like a child. I wish I'd spent my childhood better. I feel like I'm running out of time.

Tuesday...
I should be doing schoolwork.
I woke up at around 8. I think my mom woke me up, because the first thing I remember is her calling down to me to come upstairs. And I got up and crashed on the loveseat with 'Space Oddity' by David Bowie stuck in my head. I don't know why it was stuck in my head. Maybe I had a dream about it.
Yesterday was.... okay. I got some Bernat Natural Blends Cashmere, or whatever it's called, because it was on clearance. I got three skeins in the 'Ocean' colourway, and Mom got some white, off-white and pink. I might make a hat out of mine. And today I found out why it's on clearance - it's discontinued.
And then we went to Indigo, where I got my own copy of Blood and Chocolate, so now I can take my time finishing it and I can take the library's copy back. Yay!
Then when we got back, Dad wanted me to leave the spare room because he was going to deflate the air mattress. And he was going to shove my chair under the desk again, which is, well, bad, because when I tried to pull it out, it was forced under the desk. So I told him not to. And he told me he had to move it. And I told him I'd take it downstairs. And, in a nutshell, we started screaming at each other. I got grounded from the computer for the rest of the day and sent to my room. And then I had to apologize to him and turn my computer off. At first I listened to music sans headphones, because my headphones are starting to die now, so I tried to put electrical tape on my headphones, but I couldn't get it to work for me, so I just listened to music with my headphones on, sans tape. And I read Blood and Chocolate. While eating my chocolate eggs.
So yeah. Yesterday was good and bad.
Today, I didn't eat breakfast, so I have to go eat soon. And I have to start some schoolwork. But I don't want to. I feel like crap because I think I've got a cold. And I want to walk to the library, but yesterday, when I told Mom I wanted to walk to the library tomorrow, she asked me why, and told me it was going to rain. Why the hell does she always discourage me from going out on my own, and yet she wants me to get out of the house more often?! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You know what? I really feel cheated. Nathan got to learn geometry while I had to learn fractions. He got the world history books, and I didn't. Now I have a book on the second World War out of the library, and was planning on reading it as a 'unit' or whatever, and she wants me to read Canadian History for Dummies! And Emily Carr! WTF?! I never said I wanted to read any Emily Carr. My life does not depend on me reading Emily Carr. DAMMIT, I WANT TO READ ORWELL!!!!!!! AND DICKENS!!!!
...sorry about that.

I'm really bored.
...And I'm listening to Q107 via the internet. They're playing Pink Floyd.
So I went to the library today to pick up a book on Australia, a book on the history of airplanes, a book called I Am Rembrandt's Daughter and two U2 CDs - Achtung Baby and The Unforgettable Fire. Mom had nothing to pick up, which is a shocker, because she almost always has a pile of books and DVDs to pick up.
Then it was off to Michaels, where I got the new issue of Knit.1 and mom got some Bernat Handicrafter Cotton that was on sale. That location, which is the new one, has pretty much the same yarns as the one in Ancaster, but the aisles are roomier at the new location. Then we went to Indigo to get calendars. My calendar is an Artwork of John Lennon one, which is awesome. I can't remember which calendar Mom got. Dad didn't get a calendar, but he did get a coffee at Starbucks.
So I put some of the CDs I got for Christmas on my computer. I still have more to add to my iTunes library, but I put Maximum Cowbell, Planet Pop 80s, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, Coldplay and Elton John on iTunes. Sweet :)
Also, with help from Mom, I got my left speaker to kick back on!
