I should probably update.

So, sorry about the lack of posts. I've done most of my computer stuff on Dad's computer, because mine lags on sites with a lot of Flash, and my cousin was always up in the spare room where my computer is, so I had to use Dad's a lot. Not that I minded much - his computer is so much faster than mine.

Not much has happened since the tent sale. Justin (my cousin) didn't come back for his stuff, so Mom and I had to bag it all up... including his dirty laundry. eww. There's still a pair of his underwear that we somehow missed, and his umbrella. Dad came home from work not long after we started packing things up, so he helped with packing boxes and the heavy lifting; and when Brent (my uncle) arrived, he helped pack it all into Brent's Jeep.

Anyway. We couldn't go out for dinner on my birthday, so we went out for breakfast/lunch/brunch instead - the restaurant we went to has all-day breakfast, so my parents ordered off the breakfast menu and I ordered off the lunch menu. Then we went to the British imports shop and bought candy and stuff. We even bought a kebab-flavoured Pot Noodle, which I ate for lunch yesterday. It tasted pretty good, although I had to add a little bit of the chili sauce that came with it to perk up the flavour a bit.

Yesterday we went to Denninger's to buy a cake. I decided on a cute little square cake, because it didn't make sense to buy a huge cake since only three people were eating it. It's a chocolate/mocha/caramel cake, and it's absolutely delicious. We bought cold-cuts and chocolate, too, and ordered Chinese take-out for dinner.

Mom annoyed me this morning by telling me that tomorrow I had to 'hit the books, make a schedule and stick to it, and take my GED stuff seriously'. I guess she didn't notice all the GED English work I've done. Granted, I did my work in spits and spurts, but whatever.

Anyway, that's pretty much it. I'll try to post more often :)

Epic win, I do declare

The cake turned out really well. The brown sugar icing got really thick and fudgy, but I didn't mind. I got to eat it off the beater :)

Mom forgot to bring down another pressie, so I got a very nice purse this morning. It's pink, but not overly girly pink. I love it.

Dad has this habit of playing with every single electronic device that someone in this family acquires. It's a tad annoying. Without asking me, he got my camera's battery and battery charger out of the box and started charging the battery yesterday afternoon. And then he went to play poker with the neighbors, so the battery was forgotten until the evening when me and Mom realized that it was still charging, so I unplugged it. I was going to bring it downstairs, but Mom told me to leave it up there, so I handed the case and floating strap (for underwater photos) to her and she put them on the coffee table.

Anyways. I had cake for breakfast, and we might be going to Indigo, because we need to go to PetSmart to get dog treats, and Indigo is in the same plaza.

I'm hungry. What to eat? Besides cake. Um... we have lunchmeat. Huzzah! And there's still a brownie-cookie-thing in the fridge.

It's my birthday :)

I started off the day with loud music. Green Day, to be exact. I wasn't very happy about my birthday. I don't know why. Well, maybe I do. Anyway. Dad had a dental appointment, and came home talking funny because his face was numb from the fillings he had done. Yikes. He bought half a dozen Sicilian cannoli at our favourite bakery for breakfast, but I still hid upstairs and cried. After Mom asked me what was wrong and pretty much told me 'don't worry, be happy!', I went downstairs and ate some cannoli. Dad had a hard time eating his because of his numb mouth - I wasn't trying to be mean at all, but I couldn't help laughing. Even drinking coffee was a challenge for him.

For dinner we went to Mandarin, which was where I went last year. I was going to go to a new Japanese buffet restaurant, but I didn't know how busy it would be because it only just opened about a week ago, so we went to Mandarin instead. I think Mom felt bad because she forgot to buy a cake, but I didn't mind too much. I almost cried when Mom was asking me "Do you want some of this?" a lot at the dessert table, she was so sweet.

I got a camera, an SD card and ten skeins of Elann Sonata variegated in a cute black, pink and white colourway called 'Licorice Allsorts'. I cried again, because I felt like everything still went wrong. But I was happy nevertheless. Still am.

So tomorrow I might bake a cake with Mom, and watch The Soloist, which is due back to the library tomorrow. I have to go to the library, actually, because Coraline is overdue.

Oh yeah. After ripping out my Snoopy dishcloth three times, I restarted it in some of the red Peaches & Creme that I got from Juli as a prize from the 600 party in the teen group on Rav. So far it looks lovely.

Recap and Mom's Birthday

I haven't posted in a few days, so I'll recap first.

Youth group on Wednesday was, again, good and bad. The good part was that I saw my friends. The bad parts were that we played ultimate frisbee, which I walked out on twice; Elyssa was back from the big youth conference, and Elyssa told me that I 'shouldn't judge people' when I said how pissed off I was about Kristen Stewart (or, as I like to call her, 'Twilight Girl') portraying Joan Jett in an upcoming Runaways biopic. As my dad says, POT CALLING KETTLE BLACK! She is such a friggin' hypocrite! She calls me 'useless' (even though she was supposedly 'being sarcastic', it still stung), and then has the nerve to tell ME not to judge people? Wow, that's pretty cold.

Riley hasn't been to youth group for a couple of weeks. I hope he's okay.

Oh, and another thing that pisses me off - when Riley and his sister Rene's dog was run over by a car a few months back, Elyssa had said something like, "How could a dog be like a brother to you?" I told her that my dog Frisco, a Rat Terrier we had adopted (he died a few years ago) was like a brother to me. Riley's dog wound up having to be put down. We were all pretty sad that day. I couldn't help but cry.

On Thursday, Dad and I went shopping for Mom's birthday. Indigo didn't have any of the knitting books she had put on her list, so we ordered one. I'm not sure when it'll arrive - probably in a week. They'll call us when it's in. So I put the order slip in the card I gave her. I think she's quite happy :)

When we walked through the mall, there must have been at least two - I think I counted three - people that almost walked into us. It's unbelieveable how rude people can be in a shopping mall! Here we were, abiding the usual walking etiquette, and we nearly get bulldozed by some busybody!

Yesterday, Dad took Mom out to get her headphones as his present to her. She got a nice-looking pair. I don't think she told me how they sounded, but I'm sure they sound good. I myself have to get a new pair soon - the left speaker on mine cuts out a lot. I'll probably just get a cheap, $10 pair from The Source or something.

We went to a Thai restaurant - or was it Thai and Vietnamese? I don't know. We had to wait awhile, because we didn't think of making a reservation. The food was good, but the service was crap. Dad had to ask for a drink. We had water at the table, but still! I had chicken pho - chicken soup with rice noodles. It was alright except for the chicken. It was almost flavourless. Mom tasted a piece and said it was waterlogged. So, if I have a craving for chicken soup with rice noodles or vermicelli, I think I'll go to the Viet-Thai restaurant downtown.

Mom's cake is fabulous. It's labelled as 'Jamocha Almond'. And to top it all off, Meatloaf and his daughter Pearl were on Don't Forget the Lyrics!!! This was perfect, because Mom's a huge Meatloaf fan. We both sang along to 'Two Out of Three Ain't Bad' :)

ETA: Forgot to mention that we went to the British imports shop. I got my Munchies, as usual, and we got some Walkers crisps, among other things.

TFC! TFC! TFC!

Last night was Toronto FC's match against Chivas USA. We got pretty good seats... right near the hooligans :) It was pretty funny, actually. Before the game started, someone was banging a drum and saying something like this: "Give me your number! Are you married? Put me in your BlackBerry!" Mom thought that he was talking to the woman in the row in front of us.

When the match began, confetti littered the air for a bit. Afterwards, I put two pieces of confetti in my coat pocket, as a souvenier for a scrapbook. Being close to the hooligans was hilarious. The rowdy bunch were right at the seats near the goal, but our section was pretty loud at times. Like when the Chivas goalkeeper went to his knees to get the ball, and grabbed his thigh like he pulled a hamstring. That guy was a piece of work. They even got a stretcher out. Then, when they found out that they were taking the keeper the wrong way, they headed in the other direction and - get this - dropped the stretcher!!! With the keeper on it!!! And then he got up when they reached the benches! Where's an Oscar when you need one?

Toronto lost, unfortunately. I think the final score was Chivas - 3, Toronto - 1. I think the main reason as to why we lost is because nine of Toronto's players are at the World Cup qualifying matches. We still had one of our top players, Danny Dichio, though.

Edited for spelling

I got a computer for my birthday!!! And Toronto FC tickets!!!

The computer isn't brand-new (although Mom wanted to get me a laptop), but it's in great condition. The CPU used to be Dan's (my sister's boyfriend), we got the monitor when Nathan was supposed to be giving me his old Pentium 2, the speakers are from our very, very, very first computer, and the mouse and keyboard are new. I'm still breaking in the space bar on this thing :P

The match in Toronto is tomorrow. I'm excited. Mom even got rain ponchos, just in case it starts raining during the match. It's Toronto FC vs Chivas USA. I also got a sticker, a 'crying towel' and a Toronto FC scarf! :D Other things I got for my birthday were a book of writings by young feminists, the soundtrack from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and a three-disc copy of Rocky Horror on DVD - I think it has Shock Treatment included.

We went to Mandarin for dinner. Mandarin, for anyone who doesn't know, is an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet. They have sushi there too, so my dad got a plate of sushi. The first thing I got was a bowl of won-ton soup. I love that stuff. Every time I go to Mandarin, I have to start with won-ton soup. After that I got a plate and filled it with stuff like Singapore rice noodles, teriyaki meatballs, torpedo shrimp and calamari rings. I actually had room for dessert after letting my stomach sit for a little bit after eating. Mom and I went to the dessert table, but Dad was too full. I got some trifle, a nanaimo bar, a strawberry or two, a chocolate-covered strawberry, a cream puff and some Jello. Next time, I might eat ice cream there. Katie and I had ice cream for dessert there once, and we loved it. They have stuff like mimi M&M crumbs to put on it.

edited because the title was 'Shock Treatment', not 'Shock Value'.

Happy birthday, Robert Plant!

So, my 'boyfriend', Robert Plant, is 60 years old today. I completely forgot when his birthday was! I even had it written down! I was listening to the radio at probably around two in the morning, and they were playing the title track from Mighty Rearranger, his album with the Strange Sensation. I thought, I haven't heard this song in a while! Why are they playing it? I went to bed, woke up, and was listening to the radio, and they played one of his solo songs, In The Mood, and the DJ said that it was Robert's birthday!

Here's Led Zeppelin's Communication Breakdown... the video quality isn't the best, but it's still awesome :D

Here's what I'm working on

The top photo shows the baby cardigan I started. I haven't been working on it, partly because I don't feel like starting the cuffs. It's knit in one piece, you see.

The second photo shows the kerchief scarf I'm working on. It's from a book called Last Minute Knitted Gifts.

I'm also planning on making a scarf for my cousin. Luckily, he doesn't know about my blog, so I can speak freely without him finding out about my cunning plan :)

I also need to knit a pair of socks for myself. I have some Bernat Sox Multi and my Garnstudio Fabel - I might use the Fabel in a pair of Monkeys, but I'm not sure about the Sox. I'd like to make a pair of Monkeys in the Sox, because the colourway is awesome (anyone who's on Ravelry can see the colourway by looking in my stash). But I'd have to swatch.

I haven't been working on my mobius wrap or my vest. I guess I just feel like knitting with cotton.

Oh, and I'd also like to make some washcloths for my friend Holly. I probably won't get them finished before she starts university in the fall, but I could make them after I'm done my kerchief scarf and give them to her for Christmas, or her birthday, which is shortly after Christmas. The scarf for Justin (my cousin) will be either a Christmas present or a birthday present - I'm not sure if I can knit it in time for his birthday, though.

ETA: The photo of the baby cardigan is quite dark - it's actually a much lighter blue!

To Grandmother's House We Go...

So, we had to go to visit my grandma and grandpa today, to get the rest of my dad's birthday present. It turns out that my grandparents also wanted to give me my birthday present early. My dad got two Kit-Kat bars with Dale Earnhart Sr on the wrapper and a Dale Earnhart Sr DVD set. I got two tops - I haven't tried them on yet, because they're drying, but I'm sure that they'll fit because my sister was with them when they bought them. For quite some time, my grandma would buy me the wrong sizes in clothes, but I think that she's finally realised that I have, to put it bluntly, a bosom. I don't fit into a girl's large shirt anymore! But the tops are both in a women's large, so I figure they'll fit. I'll take photos when the weather's nicer and there's more natural light. It's been damp all day, and it was quite foggy this morning - my mom and I both had headaches today because of the weather change. I had aching shoulders too, but I might have slept oddly last night. Or it could be because of the change in weather. Who knows?
