Kinda funny

So, someone on Ravelry put up a video montage of 80s music videos, and I recognized one of the songs. So I watched it on YouTube and asked in the comments if anyone knew what it was.

Then I decided to try finding this INXS song I had stuck in my head. So I type in 'inxs' in the search bar and clicked on the first title in the drop-down thing. That song turned out to be the one I was asking about!

Last night I watched the season premiere of Lie To Me, which was pretty awesome. Then I went on my computer, and then I watched the season finales of and Nurse Jackie and United States of Tara. I didn't really watch the first seasons of either, but I watched the first and last episodes of Jackie, and caught the season two premiere of Tara, so I don't think I had much catching up to do.

Glee is on tonight! :)

I actually haven't posted in two days. 'Tis odd.

So last night Toronto FC had their home opener match, but I didn't get to see it because it was on Gol, a channel we aren't subscribed to :( And I won't get to watch a Toronto FC match until next Sunday, because their match this Sunday is on Gol. So I'm kind of annoyed.

I watched the SNL special last night. It was pretty awesome.

Hmm, what else... I have a strange itch to go on Jeopardy!, so I looked online to see if they had online auditions. It turns out they have them once a year, and I missed the deadline :( Oh well, there's always next year.

I also have a new goal - or, rather, a goal for a goal. One of my New Years' Resolutions was to get my beginner's driver's license, and yesterday I decided that I want to work towards getting it before Thanksgiving Day in October (Canada's Thanksgiving Day is earlier than the US Thanksgiving Day). That way, when I get my beginner's I can get some practice driving in the snow. So I'm going to read my driver's manual every afternoon upstairs and watch The Facts of Life on DejaView on the little TV :p That show is my new addiction, because I've seen almost all of One Day At A Time, which they seem to have cycled out. And maybe tomorrow I'll watch Nikkei TV on Omni BC and read my manual.

The weather's warmed up

And it's making my head hurt. Not fun.

So, on Monday we have to go to an all-you-can-eat restaurant for Grandpa's birthday. That should be interesting. Patti is organizing it I guess, or Patti and Brent - not sure if he was involved in the planning, but she got him to call my mom because she won't call her. She's so childish.

So, I have to decide what I'm wearing. I'm not dressing to the nines, but I want to make some kind of statement, like a 'Get used to me, 'cause I'm not changing' kind of statement. So I'm thinking jeans and my Led Zeppelin t-shirt ;)

I read a bit of my library book today. Only a couple of pages, but I might read more of it later. I stopped because my head was aching.

Oh yeah, and yesterday I watched the first disc of season one of Heroes, and discovered that disc two is missing. So now I have to take it back to the library, tell them that a disc is missing, and reserve another copy. Joy. At least Ghostbusters is in it's case, though.

Hmm, I think I'll sit upstairs and watch the Hugh Grant double bill on W Network. W has these Hugh Grant double bills on every Saturday this month. Last week it was Bridget Jones' Diary (GREAT movie, although I think it's R-rated) and American Dreamz (which is a really dumb movie; I don't recommend it at ALL...), and the week before that one of the movies was Love Actually. Tonight it's Mickey Blue Eyes (which is really funny, I highly recommend it!) and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, which I haven't seen yet. If Dad's playing poker tonight, I might watch the double bill downstairs, unless Mom's watching something tonight. I hope Bridget Jones doesn't run into SNL...

Blah, the upstairs satellite receiver has this tendency to show programs as 'info not available' in the guide, so I'll Google W Network's site.

Awesome! Bridget Jones runs until 11:30, which I think is when SNL starts. Maybe I'll make myself a fattening snack and do my nails. And aside from the annoying survey that popped up on the homepage, W Network's site is pretty easy to navigate.

Gawsh, I like Hugh Grant.

DUDE

So we now have HDTV, and it's fabulous. Turns out Dad didn't really need to move my bookcase, but did anyway. Oh well! Now he can move it back! ;)

The downside of my day is that there is no way I'll finish Macbeth in four days, so I'll have to write down the page I'm on, take it back and reserve it so I can continue reading, because I renewed it twice and just kept forgetting to read it regularly. I feel like a fool.

I took back the book on Gandhi, because I just wasn't in the mood to read it. I picked up Fruits Basket #4, and I also checked out Knit 2 Together by Mel Clark and Tracey Ullman and a Beatles CD.

I want to knit Roger Hodgson a sweater :p

First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I spent New Years Eve watching the Best of Just for Laughs special, then the Royal Canadian Air Farce's finale, then a bit of Ron James' stand-up special, then I went on my computer. While watching all that, I ate a bit of calamari, a few of these chocolate-covered caramels with sea salt on them (they actually taste better than they sound!), then some butter puff biscuits that we got at the British imports shop. Then at 11:00, we put it on the local station to watch their New Years Eve program live in Niagara, in which Roger Hodgson, formerly of Supertramp, performed! I missed most of 'Give a Little Bit', though, because I was in and out of the living room. But he was still as awesome as ever. He was cracking jokes about the cold weather - it was so cold that the saxophonist's saxophone was squeaking! Roger himself said, "My guitar is saying, 'What are you doing to me?'", and "This'll be the out-of-tune version of 'School'." He's quite cheeky. There's a video on YouTube of him performing 'Easy Does It', in which he whistles, and the audience was whistling along with him, and he would suddenly stop, and wave his hands to stop the audience's whistling... it's hilarious.

Here's the video of him singing 'Easy Does It', which was from a gig in 2000. It's pretty quiet, so make sure your volume is turned up.




So anyways. I want to knit him a sweater. When my mom saw my Facebook status, which said that I wanted to knit him a sweater, she said that he needs gloves - fingertip-less ones, so that he can play the guitar and the piano! I think she's right - maybe I'll make him a pair of Knucks with 'rock' on one hand and 'roll' on the other!

So, if you're somehow reading this, Mr Hodgson, I think you need a nice sweater and fingerless gloves for playing music in the cold winter air. You probably aren't reading my blog, but if you are by any chance, um, I really like your music - I haven't heard any of your solo stuff, but I'm a huge Supertramp fan :)

I know that sounded silly, but hey, he might just come across my blog someday... :)

Cream soda and Final Fantasy VIII

I did a bit of yardwork today. Dad wanted me to rake up clumps of grass after he cut the grass. At first I was freaking out because I was totally raking the grass wrong, so Dad came out and told me what to do. I stopped after a bit, though, because there were a couple of wasps in the yard, and I already had a fly hit my ear.

So I went inside, feeling like crap because my legs were sore. I watched a bit of Jerry Springer, then a bit of the 12:00 news, and then Mom and Dad had to go to Mom's doctor's appointment, so I was like, "What am I gonna do, with these sore legs?" and dad told me, "You could play PlayStation." So I brought up my PlayStation 1 (yes, I'm that old-fashioned :p) and hooked it up to the VCR/DVD player. We used to have a switch-box thing in which we would plug in the DVD player, VCR, TV, satellite and PlayStation, but then we had to replace our VCR, so we got a VCR/DVD combination thing, and the old DVD player went somewhere else. It was old, anyway, and had a tendancy to overheat. I'm not sure if we got rid of it, or if it's still around...

Anyway, I'm playing Final Fantasy VIII, and I have NO IDEA where I'm going! I had to find a train platform, but I couldn't remember where it was. I finally found the way, got on the train, and then I had to get off the train at the first stop and go through a forest. Now, keep in mind that this is my second file, and that I've gone through disc one already, but I still couldn't remember which forest I had to go through! I was walking though a huge forest - not an actual forest interior, just a bunch of trees on the main map - and got into battles regularly. And I kept running from the battles. Then I found the forest I needed to go into to continue the story.. it was RIGHT NEAR THE PLATFORM!!!!!!!

And then, after a separate storyline involving seperate characters, I find out that one of the characters doesn't have their Guardian Force equipped, and that someone else does! Then I get to Galbadia Garden (a military academy), and I can't find the stupid 2nd floor reception room. And because I've gone through this disc before, I'm saying to the TV, "Seifer isn't dead, Rinoa! He went with the sorceress!" Or something like that.

During my gaming, I was drinking cream soda. There was a time when I became sick of it, but now that we have a bottle of it in the house it's become my vice again.

I was also grooving to the super-cool battle music in the separate storyline :D

ETA: I changed the 'next to' to 'near'. It was still close to the platform though, and I'm still an idiot :p

I KNOW WHY I FEEL LIKE CRAP!!! :)

It's that time of the month. Yep. THAT time.

Plus, I have a lot of items to pick up from the library, and more coming. By the time everything's in, I'll have to pick up: four CDs, two books and two DVDs. Huzzah.

I got to play a bit of Final Fantasy VIII last night, but I decided to turn it off after a bit because the weather was making the TV flicker. I don't understand why I didn't turn it off when the storm started... I guess I was too stubborn.

Justin's scarf is coming along. It's looking more like a tube than it was before.

Oh, and I got to talk to Max on MSN the other night! :D

Another ruff pic, and other random stuff.

The top photo is a recent shot of my ruff. Measuring the spine is a bit of trouble, because of the ruffles. The photo below the ruff is a shot of my dropped stitch scarf, which now has its ends woven in but needs to be blocked. The third photo is of my vest - or, rather, the right front piece of my vest.

I'm thinking that the vest will be good for wearing in the garden or to the library, because I could wear it overtop of a sweater instead of wearing a jacket, and it'll have pockets. Pockets are good.

I don't think I'll be doing much tonight, except for watching TV, maybe reading my library book, probably knitting. That reminds me.. I have to pick up a book and a CD from the library. The book? Keeping the Moon. The CD? Raising Sand!!!! I also have another CD in transit - The Honeydrippers!

It's FINISHED!

Yep. My swatch scarf is done - I just cast off last night while watching America's Funniest Home Videos. I think I finished casting off at the beginning of the Graham Norton Show. I'd take a picture, but it's too dark today. I acted like a complete nutter when I finished casting off - I made my needles sway, as if they were dancing in some sort of romance flick.

Perhaps I'll start a pair of fingerless gloves, now that my size 5 needles are free.
