Painting the loft!

So we started putting the primer on the walls of the loft today. It went pretty well, even though Stone was driving me close to insanity.

I was the first of the youth to arrive - in fact, I arrived before Stephen, who is one of our youth group leaders. Emma and her sister Nora came a bit later, with music. I was worried that the music wouldn't be my style, but Emma had Coldplay on her iPod! Sweet! She also had this really cool song on her iPod - I think it was called Hit Me by MIA. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :p I wanted to bring some music, but Emma and Nora had an iPod dock, and I don't think anyone had a CD player that they could bring, so... yeah. I probably could have borrowed Mom's, but I decided not to - I probably would've been the only person bringing a CD anyhow. We took a photo of Jesse's chalice mural before we painted over it with primer. I posed like an anime character, with my fingers in a 'v'. You know, like in Pokemon. haha.

After lunch, we took a break, hanging around the piano near the back exit. Stone and Stephen hooked up their computers, and I did a couple of katas - okay, one and a quarter, if you want to be absolutely specific. I couldn't do all of Unsu because it invovles breakfalls, which I can't do because of the risk of getting an infected jaw (because of the bone graft in my mouth). Stone looked like he was mimicking me, but he said he didn't. Eh, no worries. When the piano wasn't being used by Stone or Nora, I decided to try playing something. Now, I have a keyboard at home, but it's smaller than that piano, so this was pretty cool :) So I started playing She's a Rainbow by The Rolling Stones. And, of course, Stone was singing Christmas carols loudly overtop of my piano playing. Eh. So I told him that I wasn't playing a Christmas carol, I was playing a Stones song. So he said, "A 'Stone's Song'?", and I said, "The Rolling Stones! You know, Mick Jagger!" And then a congregant said, "I know what she's trying to play! She's trying to play She's a Rainbow!", to which I replied, "THANK YOU!" hehe. He also came over to help me with the song a bit.

Micaela came late, but she got to help apply another coat of primer. I didn't get to help with the primer before lunch, because everyone else was, so Stephen had me putting another coat of paint on the door trim and the window, but after lunch he had me help with the primer. I think Dad came to pick me up close to 4:00, but I can't quite remember. Oh, and Micaela was around after lunch (I can't remember when she arrived...), and she checked her e-mail using Stone's teeny laptop, and she got a notification e-mail saying that I tagged her in a note on Facebook. Hehe.

I haven't posted in three days :p

I went to Winners with my parents. I got my sister's Christmas present and my brother's Christmas present :) I think I've decided what I'll make for Breanne - a dropped-stitch scarf. I think she'll like it if it's in a colour she likes. I might have to either look through Mom's stash for yarn or go to Michaels, though. Or Len's. I heard Talk by Coldplay at Winners, too, which was pretty cool.

So, NaNoWriMo is going good. Just look at the widget! I'm not doing too bad! :D

Breanne, my cousin, was supposed to come over today, but it didn't happen :(

BUT, we have more chocolate in the house! :D

ETA: Hey, guys! I just put a Coldplay widget at the bottom of the page! What you do is click 'start', then rub the glass with your mouse. Don't click on it, just run your mouse across it back and forth. If you're lucky, you'll hear a portion of a song from their upcoming EP! I would have left it at the side of the posts, but it got chopped off when I put it there.

Time for some awesomeness, people :)

1. YouTube is liking me again. It turns out that they were doing updates, which is why it thought that my Flash was out of date or my JavaScript was turned off.

2. I think I have my new library card memorized. Although I find it pointless that they gave me a 'teen card' when I'll have to get an adult card next year.

3. Coldplay's gonna be on Saturday Night Live this week!!!!

4. I'm doing NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) this year, starting on November 1st.

5. I sent an e-mail to the Knit.1 staff asking when the next issue would be out, and I got a reply - they said that it will be out on December 16th.

6. I think we're having chicken wings for dinner, but I'm not sure. My parents bought chicken wings today.

7. My parents also bought chips today.

8. While my parents were out doing grocery shopping, I read We're Going to See The Beatles! and drank a huge mug of hot chocolate. And then I started drinking some Dr Pepper. I didn't finish the whole can yet, I figured I'd put it in the fridge so that my teeth won't get too rotten :p

9. I just remembered that Ugly Betty is on tonight!!!

10. I think I'll make a funky scarf for Breanne for Christmas.

School-ish

So I started 'school' today. Homeschooling, to be exact. I took some books with me for the car ride to my sister's place - Clapton: The Autobiography, Anne of Avonlea, The Pocket Gallileo and a pocket guide to science. I only read Clapton and Anne, though. I took my camera with me, too, so that I could take photos of Jeffrey, but I only got one decent shot. I'll put it up on my Flickr soon, and eventually up on this very blog.

Jeffrey is such a sweetheart. Very talkative. Mom thinks he's definitely half Siamese because of his colouring and face structure. He's so big compared to Mouse, though! And Katie (my sister) said that he wouldn't eat the treats she bought, and yet when my mom gave him treats he ate them!

We went out to a place called Wonder Sushi for lunch, which was great. I'm not keen on sushi, but I love udon noodles and tempura. We got these dumplings that were pretty tasty, too, and chicken teriyaki, which was awesome. For dessert, we had ice cream - I had mango, Katie and Mom had green tea and Dan (Katie's boyfriend) had vanilla. I tried a bit of Mom's green tea ice cream, and it was pretty good. I'll have to get the green tea ice cream next time.

So, for an early birthday gift, Katie gave me soap and a bath ball. The bath ball is from Lush, and I think the soap is too. They smell lovely.

We couldn't get Q107 in London Ontario, so we listened to their local rock station, FM 96, which isn't too bad. I actually like it better than our local rock station, Y108. When we tuned into FM 96, the first song we heard was Lust For Life by Iggy Pop, which Y108 NEVER plays. Q107 sometimes plays Iggy Pop, but not a lot. And then we heard an interview with Liam Gallagher from Oasis, and then a new track from Oasis. I can't remember what it was called or how it goes, but I remember liking it. Oasis are cool :) Although one of their songs has a raunchy title. I also got to hear the title track from Coldplay's new album, Viva la Vida. As I mentioned in an older post, I first heard it on Galaxie Rock, which is one of Bell's satellite music stations... actually, I think it's owned by CBC.

Here's what's new.

Yesterday, Erica commented on one of my photos of Mouse that I put up on Facebook. And yet she couldn't take the time to e-mail me. Huh.

Also yesterday, Mom was watching some movie, and I asked her what it was. She told me it was a goofy movie. So I said, "If no one's watching it, shall I look for something else?", and she replied, "I never said I wasn't watching it." So I ate my bread upstairs, in the spare room.

I heard some awesome music last night in the spare room. After my bread, I brought up my knitting and listened to the Galaxie music channels. All it is is a black screen with the song info in white text, moving slowly so that it doesn't burn out one particular part of the screen. I was often switching Galaxie channels when there was a song I wasn't keen on. I heard a Jethro Tull song on Galaxie GoldRock, and Tutti Fruitti on Rock n' Roll. I think I even heard some decent songs on Galaxie Rock, which usually has new rock thrown in. But the other night I did hear Viva la Vida by Coldplay on Galaxie Rock, which was awesome, and Hot Patootie by Meatloaf (from Rocky Horror, as seen in the post below this one) on GoldRock.

The ruff is almost done...

I think I have another three or four inches of knitting to do before the buttonhole row. Yay! I would take a picture, but it's too dark.

There really isn't much to blog about today. I'm almost finished Troll Fell - I have less than a chapter left. Also, I'm really enjoying the new Coldplay single, 'Violet Hill'. It's calming, but also slightly heavy.

I have a question, dear reader - are there any songs that remind you of something, like a moment in your life or a scene from a movie? Every time I hear 'Twist and Shout' by The Beatles, I remember the parade scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, where Matthew Broderick lip-synchs. And on a sadder note, sometimes, when I hear Jeff Healey's cover of 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps', I remember how the news of his death hit me hard. I didn't know he had cancer, a cancer that took his sight. He died at a young age - I can't remember how old he was, but he was in his early forties, if I remember correctly. When I heard the news, I couldn't believe it. Then the next day it hit me - he died. I listened to sad songs. I wept.

And he left us some fabulous music to listen to with admiration.
