Seasonal weather is kind of great

I'm very, very happy, because it's October and I'm not wearing shorts.

For the past few Octobers, it's been so warm that I've worn shorts until Halloween. I wish I were kidding, but I'm not. One time when we had my uncle and cousins up for Thanksgiving dinner, we had to put the AC on. No word of a lie.

Well, Thanksgiving has come around again, and this year I am wearing track pants and a fleecy cardigan. We even had to put on the furnace. It's kind of awesome.

If it's this cool outside in the fall, winter might actually be wintery. We didn't get a lot of snow last winter, until around January when we got dumped on for a day or so. (I remember this well, because I had to shovel snow off the sidewalks and driveway.) But after that, we didn't get much snow. I'm hoping, as always, for a white Christmas. Sounds like a cliche, but it's true. One year I wore a hoodie on Christmas Eve to go buy our traditional breakfast of cannoli for Christmas Day with Dad. Granted, the hoodie I wore is very warm, but it's a hoodie nonetheless. (I believe I also wore the same hoodie about a week before Christmas, when I walked with my mom to go shopping for Dad's stocking-stuffers.)

I love cold weather. I love bundling up in blankets and cardigans with a cup of cocoa, watching movies or reading a good book. When I was little, I'd make snow forts with my brother and sister, and we'd have snowball fights and look for icicles. I'd really like to have snow for Christmas, so that I can curl up with a fluffy blanket or throw a snowball at my brother. I'd like to see icicles before Christmas, provided they aren't the huge kind that can hurt somebody. That would suck.

I think this colder weather is a good reason to get my Ravenclaw scarf finished. It's really big - I was worried it would be too big, but after having to sleep in a sweatshirt last night, I think it'll come in handy when the snow starts falling. Plus, it's good TV knitting, because it's just a striped Stockinette tube. I only have about half a stripe left to knit, and then all I have to do is weave in the ends and make the fringe.

My dog, Teddy, was just sitting in my lap as I typed that last paragraph. It seems that she wouldn't make a very good novel-writing buddy, because she kept nudging my hands :p Anyhow, I think I'll close now. I hope to write again soon :)

We have snow!!!

It snowed last night :)

It was just a dusting at that point, so I was hoping it wouldn't melt in the morning. I woke up this morning and saw a bit more than a dusting when I looked through the living room window, so I was pretty happy about that. Hopefully the weather will be seasonable for Christmas, because last December I didn't get to wear any of the scarves I've made.

I really should find that movie on DVD. Our VHS tape of it won't last forever, and not many TV stations play it over the holidays.

Speaking of TV, this Christmas will be the first Christmas that we've had AMC and TCM. My mom and I watched Meet Me in St. Louis on Saturday, which was nice. And yesterday afternoon we caught the last twenty minutes or so of The Bishop's Wife. I'm hoping to be able to watch A Child's Christmas in Wales, but I don't know if it'll be on TV - sometimes a channel like Knowledge Network or TVO will have it on, but it isn't always on every year. TVO and Knowledge Network are kind of like PBS stations in Canada - they're commercial-free and often have educational programming.

Yesterday afternoon, after we watched The Bishop's Wife, I found one of my favourite Christmas movies, All I Want For Christmas, on YTV. After that was Call Me Claus, which I watched the last half of (I had gone on my computer when it started); and then after that was Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

In knitting news, I'm halfway through my bobble pillow :) I finished the bobble half, and now I'm doing garter stitch for the back half of the pillow - which will be a lot easier on my hands. The bobble side took so long to get through, and my hands hurt from knitting the bobbles in acrylic on metal needles, but the pain was worth it. Now I can zip through the rest of it.

I watched Jonah Hex the other day. It was good - I wasn't totally wowed by it, but it was good. I still have another library DVD, Driving Lessons, to watch. I might watch it tonight if there isn't anything on TV tonight. Or we also have plenty of Christmas movies to watch.

Drinkin' pimple juice

Actually, it's pineapple juice, but my mom and I like to call it pimple juice. lol.

So today has been somewhat eventful. We went to the lab because Mom had to have a blood test done, but there were, like, 25 other people there, so we had breakfast at the restaurant in the same plaza. I had a waffle with a side of breakfast sausages. It was yummy. And filling, since it's ten after eleven and I don't feel hungry. I may not eat lunch for another couple of hours.

I tried to do some polynomials, but I may have to redo some of them, because they have mixed symbols - a plus and a minus. I hate those kinds of polynomials, because you have to figure out if it has to be positive or negative. And usually, when you times a positive by a negative, you get a negative (see? I remember at least one of the algebraic principles!), so if you're times-ing the factors at the beginning of the polynomial, you'd wind up with all negatives - but, at the end you have to have a positive in there. So yeah... re-writing must be done before I can say that the polynomials are finished. eep.

My Labyrinth fanfiction is coming along nicely. I've also started a crime story that I wrote down in a notebook a few days ago - basically, I wrote down a paragraph, the plot, and a few character names in the notebook, and today I started it in Word, and it's taking shape better than the paragraph I'd written in the notebook.

So, I don't think I'm going to youth group tonight, because I think Dad's working this evening. I'm not too bothered, though. As long as people don't bitch me out for missing three meetings, I'm happy.

The weather's nicer today. It was chilly this morning, though - about 32 degrees farenheit - so I wore my ski jacket. There's still patches of snow here and there, but not as much as yesterday.
